9th bike obtained. It's in great shape, has nearly all its original 6297 and 6208 bits. Will still need disassembly, cleaning, etc. but it's actually rideable at the moment. I have to decide what to do with about the original 1985 'Bernard Hinault' model Turbo saddle. I think it's restorable, but I have to look up how.. The seller had replaced the original 6207 brakes with 7401 Dual Pivot brakes, and someone prior to that had replaced the 6207 non-aero brake levers with later aero levers. I also bought, on a whim, a pair of 6209 aero levers, which I might use. If I get 6207 or 6208 levers, there's the perennial problem with lever hoods. The as-yet unanswered question - do I care?

Currently itching to take the Centurion apart, but the visiting dogs are still in possession of the garage. Grrr....

I had very neatly the same experience with my old Dr. Office. She wanted my Driver's license, insurance card, and debit card for the CO pay. I plopped them down on her blotter one at a time, like a dealer at a card game. The next thing I know I was being accused of throwing my cards at "her" receptionist. I let her and the rest of her staff know in no uncertain terms how incorrect she was and what they all could do with their services. If you are that effing sensitive what the hell are you doing dealing with the public in the first place? Grow up.

Worked my 3rd 20 plus hour shift last night for the week. I'm too old for that shiz. And I'm still on call for 2 more days. Swearing about it just isn't cutting it anymore.

Yes, except true to form, I was very nice. I even stopped at the desk on the way out to make sure there were no ill feelings.

Oh, man DougRNS you should have been there.
I was at an gathering of the olds. Sat down at a table with some people for lunch. I didn't know them, but my dad did. The first thing the guy said was "You remember when" and then--I kid you not--he mentions a meeting in https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...87ff2fe322.jpg Had this for lunch at 2:30 came home and napped for 90 minutes. New pain medication isn't helping much. Took half of it home for lunch tomorrow. |
That sounds really good.

It was a beautiful day here just under 80 degrees and we had a nice mtb ride. Not technical but lots of climbing both ways. My friend stayed with me for a lot of the climbs because we were talking but she did go ahead a few times like I knew she could.
I don't know if anyone here remembers BF member Ovoleg but I saw him up there today. He rode with my road club on and off for years but I haven't seen him in a long time. I didn't know he had a mountain bike and apparently he has a girlfriend, too. It was good to see them. I have some old pics from the area. This is called Eagle Rock. It's 200 feet tall and there are dirt roads above and below it. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4145ab483b.jpg After we passed it looking back. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d34f72aeec.jpg No flat ground. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a1c27e50b4.jpg |
Pretty sure I would not survive to the bottom, and I am okay with that. |
