Too bad that making a big purchase right now is "financially irresponsible" because we're doing something silly like "saving up to buy a house"

Where's your priorities, man?

This chapter of Addiction will begin with titanium bikes.

We'll begin with the makeover of Mo's beautiful $4000 Lynskey. The bike has lost its way. Could you please post your photos, Mo?

sbxx1985 04-02-20 09:49 AM

Background about Mo - he knows more about COVID and infectious disease than all of us. Most importantly, he has the money to fix his Lynskey.

Here it is with the **** wheels, but it can't get any more beautiful. It just can't! And I happen to like the look of the biodegradable fenders.

Sweet bike. Enve fork? Those Vision wheels have to go.

@datlas certainly knows more.

Lynskey name. Don't know who actually laid it up.

Bah Humbug 04-02-20 09:56 AM

I always approve of titanium content. Keep it coming.

Someone on ST is selling a Ti tri bike, full-custom Litespeed.

Nice fender sticker.

The fenders have to go. There are better, less intrusive options. The one on my Cinelli comes on and off in two seconds, so you only have to use it in case your ass will get wet or it's in full commute mode.

Lynskey branded saddle has to go. What cranks are those?

Where was this, what part of town?

WhyFi 04-02-20 10:03 AM

Whoa. This is huge -

On March 12, The Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul announced plans to lower speed limits to support safer streets. Slower speeds on local streets make travel safer for everyone no matter how you get around.

New speed limits will be:
  • 20 mph for local residential streets;
  • 25 mph for larger, arterial city-owned streets; and
  • 30-plus mph for a few city-owned streets.
  • Per Minnesota law, cities do not have authority to change speed limits on county and MnDOT roads. Speed limits on these streets in Minneapolis and Saint Paul will not change.

Well, if it's actually enforced. The whole hands-free law that was recently passed has mostly been ignored.

Enve made it for them. Between the frameset and Ardennes, you have a solid start.

I assume it was custom. Why didn't you make the HT taller?

sbxx1985 04-02-20 10:04 AM

That's cool.

... though I wouldn't be surprised if there was some backlash directed at cyclists because dumb people are dumb.

Polarizing to be sure. The mis-match in radius of the fender vs fork crown in addition to the not-quite right fender line is bugging me a lot though :twitchy:

Some nice smooth black aluminum fenders would look so good, though.

WhyFi 04-02-20 10:07 AM

I'm a big fan of the hand-hammed (lookin') fenders.

It's my everyday commuter and occasional hardback/gravel bike. I like a clean bike and hate partial fenders. The saddle is actually my favorite among the three I'm currently using. Maybe I should move it to the trainer. It now has an unsightly gash on the left side from the hit back in January. The cranks are FSA Gossamer junk.

I'm of the opinion that fenders should either be permanently installed, or never installed. They're just too fussy to bother with putting on and taking off

Looks like the FSA Omega to me.

:thumb:

They keep the bling factor high, but also hide scratches and dents really well.

I think that the pattern would be a bit out of place on the Lynskey, I'd go with smooth and black.

A Praxis would look nice.

;)

sbxx1985 04-02-20 10:13 AM

Lots of bottle cage options instead of the one lonely generic LBS one.

My favorite for carbon is the Arundel Mandible. My favorite for good looking cheap is the Tacx Tao. It's discontinued, but I found a two pack for the Cinelli.

By the 303 and the CAP. Right in here somewhere:

sbxx1985 04-02-20 10:14 AM

All the FSA stuff should go. It doesn't work for a bike that nice. I would go Praxis for cranks.

Why do you need permanent fenders on a bike that nice when it's nice and sunny out? And why the front fender? Too much fender.

The bike wants to be sexy.
