They're/we're racing up Mt. Evans in a couple weeks, so there's some of that going on. Plus, the volume doesn't hurt in the all around fitness.

Plus, I would like to get some sleep tonight. Fireworks are one of my least favorite things in the world

It's ridiculous. People without a pot to piss in spending a grand on fireworks.

That too.

It mostly dies off after 11, but if history is a guide there'll be an a#$%(*% shooting off rounds after midnight.

I heard gunshots at 3 am last night.

100% agree. The ones that shake the house and set off car alarms are the worst. Plus, I feel bad for the animals and anyone with PTSD.

Yeah. Rango is largely oblivious, but Dory, the little dog, gets upset.

Well?

No wonder you were going at walking speed. SMH.

I believe that picture was taken at the top of a particularly steep climb. There was some walking involved.

He starts a riot, alright — “Where’s security? Somebody get this lug outta here!”

Velo Vol 07-05-21 07:28 AM

Feels like Monday.

No. He went an hid in the house. That was odd. He lived outside for a long time so he’s usually not phased by loud noises. My departed boy was. He really hated when a school bus would pass the house while he was in the window.

My kitty did ok. Some of the louder explosions scared him and he was concerned but didn't panic. Haven't heard the peacock yet. Last 4th he disappeared for several weeks. I don't know if he went into the hills but he eventually came back.

I put a double on my fatty, no more walking.

Not here it doesn't. I'm not getting back o n the freeway after dropping The Younger Boy off at work.

Jack Tone 07-05-21 10:11 AM

"Bombs" started going off yesterday afternoon, last night, new neighbor set off stuff that actually shook the house. (So pissed!!). Male cat who's already on drugs for urinary/stress, quit peeing yesterday. Going to the Vet this morning.

Didn't help that my two dogs barked at every pop, no matter how distant.

We had a dog, Kyoko, American Eskimo miniature. Usually fearless. Used to serve as Enforcer for our Golden whenever other dogs visited. HATED fireworks. One 4th, we couldn't find her, and worried she'd escaped - Eskies are roamers. Found the poor thing hiding under the bed.

I noticed here they have some kind of firework that sounds like gunfire. I couldn't be sure.

I confess, I snorked at that one.

It seemed like there were fewer amateur fireworks this year. Perhaps it's finally getting into people's heads that explosives and incendiaries are a really bad mix with drought-parched vegetation.

Mrs.GeneJockey asked, "Why would anyone still be lighting off fireworks when it's like this?" I told her that the people lighting them are always sure THEY are special. THEY know how to do it safely, not like those other idiots.

And then they blow off a finger or start a wildfire.

Death is generally tragic. But dying like that? Geez.
