What's the max tire width that will fit on a Burley Honeybee trailer?

I want to try to give a little more comfort for my child, since crossing roads between trails has my child moving around too much for me. I go very slow, like 3-5 mph and I still see him jostled around too much for my comfort. I'm looking at 20x3.0, or if too big 20x2.35. I figure this will have more air volume and I can run lighter pressure, much like what the bigger tires on my downhill bike allows me to do compared to my cross country or road bike.

I wonder if anyone has figured this out? I have a similar dilemma.

I don't think this is a problem many people have. The trailer itself and how it is constructed are what determine 'the ride'. There is no need to second guess the designers. Your kid(s) are fine with the OEM wheels/tires.

I've had the trailer for a while, and my kid complains it's too bumpy. Perhaps you’re Burley’s trailer designer? Please don't take it personally.

I ordered some Schwalbe Big Apples in 2.15" width to replace the stock tires, which are stiff, cheap, and pretty narrow. I'll update with results in case someone comes along in another 13 years.

Update: 2.15” Big Apples fit, with about 1/4” to spare. If you move or remove the guard you could fit a much bigger tire.
