Yes, but I ran a tap from the softener and now am well below recommended hardness levels. Also, I use the BWT anti-scale pads in the water tank. I probably have to clean the valve every other month and it's a ***** to get out.

Got this frame in the early 80s and Peter updated it for me from the original Nuovo Record with NOS 7800 in 2014. Agree with all the comments. Wire rope was simply never meant to go around tight radii.

That's weird. Why so often? Is it the construction of the valve or something? I've replaced the valves in mine once in the 14 or 15 years that I've had it. That was just from the gaskets deteriorating, causing a drip.

Yes. Probably a Caledonia or Aspero. I may just sell the R3 for a 105 equipped Caledonia and upgrade it.

Not a fan of French press. I like my espresso hot and full of body/flavor. I’ve yet to experience a French press that can do that.

Yup. French press is fine and dandy, but no substitute for espresso.

She might just be my type! The response I always got was that the sails were not ripped so why do we need a new one. That was even the response once when the sail seams were coming apart.

Trader Joe’s outside-in stuffed gnocchi is pretty good. Worth a try.
