Not so sure about that. My dad was always up and out of the house like that due to his job. I can't get going that early, nor am I fast.

In my case, I can sometimes be like my Dad, working all day outside with minimal breaks. Other times like my Mom, curling up for a nice nap.

Shimano Preload Tool (wheelsmfg.com)

Yeah, the advantage of a plastic tool for this is that you're less likely to overdo it.

Wow, happy anniversary!

The R2 had had a nasty knocking noise, which at first I worried was the BB needing a replacement with a one-piece unit. I discovered it didn't happen when I pedaled by only pulling up, so I swapped the pedals with the P2. Noise is gone. Guess the crappy Keos finally kicked the bucket after however many years. But hey, no BB replacement.

:bday:

Guess I'll go ride. It's not raining now.... not supposed to any more today. I could do a century tomorrow. Maybe. I dunno.
I think I bought some defective grass seed. I don't see any sprouts . It's been 5 very wet days. It could also be all washed out to the curb by now to though.

Oh, no - that's not what I was getting at. Rather than saying, "being a morning person is a marker of a gifted athlete," I was thinking more along the lines of "discipline can take you places but genetics is a big factor and it ultimately defines your celling."

Years ago, I read/heard something about how to qualify for the Olympics, that went something like, 'hard training, total dedication, and careful choice of grandparents'.

Oops, I missed Linda Ronstadt's 75th birthday Thursday. :bday:

Boy it's difficult to imagine pro baseball players used to have to play on lumpy grass like that, and not too long ago...

Hot ride. I went through 8 bottles in 3.5 hours. Was a little slower than I wanted but apparently some of my friends can’t take the heat. By the end of the ride it was about 90F and real-feel 100 because very humid.

This stretch of UP track in UT had a lot of ballast washed out by floodwaters. Choo-choo wasn't fond of the situation:

They're out there in witch doctor circles, though I've only gotten them every now and then. How can it be used for research? It's all subjective.

At least this kind of has some guidelines (though not internally consistent). But how do I know what a five is? Have I ever even had a ten? I could imagine worse, during the times it was bad.

Caterpillar II has had a great big bowel movement and is now going walkabout, looking for a spot to pupate. We'll prolly have a chrysalis on our hands when we get back this evening.

you can't ignore the pain but you can still work through some activities. Read people. SMDH

Some people can HTFU and work/exercise through a lot more than others.

Exactly the same here, but my dad was/is a weekend napper. I’ll be the same today. Got up at 6:00, and ran out to snap some pics during the golden hour, then did my ride, had lunch and went for a swim, and now set to doze on the couch.

Not many athletic genes in our family.

Mojo31 07-17-21 01:12 PM

Saw this nice Wilier today. Not many around hear. Like the white wheels.

That's some serious dedication to the color theme.

Big fail with the car in that regard, but the bike was eye catching. Guy was fast. Must be a serious cyclist.
