Is it nuts having 4 bikes??

1 Cannondale mountain bike. 1 Electra cruiser bike. 1 Trek Fx 3. 1 Specialized Rubaix road bike. Can't be normal?? 4 bikes? You guys?

cb400bill 07-25-20 08:32 PM

I'm not sure how I could get down to only four...

indyfabz 07-25-20 08:33 PM

Depends.

cyclist2000 07-25-20 08:35 PM

E-bike. You want an e-bike too. Oh wait, that’s me.

Yeah it is pretty nuts I mean how do you not have at least 10?

I mean there is a touring bike missing, a gravel bike, who knows what kind of mountain bike so you might need something else, some vintage bikes in the equation certainly need some steel and ti bikes, no fixed gears or singles speeds (except possibly a cruiser but nothing of performance orientation), I mean come on!

DorkDisk 07-25-20 08:59 PM

You need a red bike; red is the fastest.

diphthong 07-25-20 09:03 PM

it's not nuts if you've got a roadie, a mtb, a gravel bike, a fixie or cruiser or foldie or whathaveyou. what's nuts is having 4 road bikes with very little versatility...guilty.

Rage 07-25-20 09:13 PM

It’s not nuts.
Seems like you could even add a couple.

Always.

Gravel, road, vintage, and mountain.

Now to get a modern gravel and convert mine into a tourer or commuter. Then my wife has 2 more, needs a third. Got two kids, they'll be old enough to ride soon.

I don't mind the bikes. When we were up to 4 strollers and a Burley trailer, the garage felt small.

GamblerGORD53 07-25-20 09:18 PM

Darn right it's nuts. You have NO Sturmey Archer hub. Preferably a RD5w. I rode mine 106.5 miles last Monday.
Easy as pie. And it's 78 lbs, LOL.

caloso 07-25-20 09:48 PM

4 seems like the minimum to be honest.

surak 07-25-20 10:08 PM

It's only nuts if your garage still has space to fit more.

AlgarveCycling 07-25-20 11:05 PM

Perfectly normal and room for more.

In order of arrival, mine are:
1999 Trek 26" MTB hardtail
2019 KTM Kapoho 29er E-MTB full suspension
2019 KTM Scarp Sonic 29er MTB full suspension
2019 Wilier Zero.6 Road bike
2020 Trek Madone SLR road bike

Who knows what next year will bring?

Doctor Morbius 07-25-20 11:14 PM

Absolutely NOT! 4 bikes is well within reason. 6, however, would be INSANE!

I have 5. :p

Tony Marley 07-26-20 04:20 AM

You need to add a tadpole trike.

billyymc 07-26-20 04:29 AM

Road, Mountain, Gravel, Single Speed...considering a Fat Bike (largely because I have no intention of going back in a gym this winter).

Depends on if they have disk brakes.

If having four bikes is nuts, I guess I'm 25% beyond nuts.

GlennR 07-26-20 06:47 AM

Bicycles are "tool", so no more than having 4 torque wrenches.

You know this is a "BIKE" forum, right?

Good diversity but you need backups for each type.

freeranger 07-26-20 07:39 AM

The correct number of bikes is N + 1
