American Classic brand is back with tires
 

They do look good, yes. Not the lightest offering at 565g for a 40mm tire, but its priced very well which may offset the weight.
I read they went buying only from their site or Amazon direct. Interesting approach- keeping them out of shops. Perhaps thats to keep the costs down thru one less hand in the jar, perhaps to keep costs down since they dont have to use reps, or maybe its a mix of both.

Itd be cool if they had sizing between 40mm and 50mm. Many frames can now fit larger than a 40, but not quite a 50.

I believe AC is owned by the original AC’s ex-national sales manager, so there is some continuity there to an extent. But yeah, they do look like spanky deals; Huang over at Cycling Tips, and someone I’ve known since his bike shop days here in Ann Arbor, said in a post somewhere that the Wentworth model were working great for him.

The weights are an issue for me, though. I was going to try a pair for some winter gravel use, but besides them not having the kind of tread pattern I really wanted, the weights were just too high to make a tread pattern compromise worthwhile. Specifically, I decided to get Ultradynamico Rosé JFF 42mm at 515g and $65 instead of the 40mm Khrumbein at 585g and $35.

American Classic is a brand I loved in the past, and I’d like to give the new iteration a chance, so I’ll take a look at their road tire selections in the spring and see if there’s something suitable to replace 28mm Gravelking slicks on the winter bike.

Looked at all their offerings..some nice looking tires, with decent specs. I'm rather flush with tires at the moment, though look forward to folks reporting how they ride and fit (whether the 40s run narrow or wide..)

Reviews on width that ive read for their road and gravel tires is that they are narrow.

Sort of good news as the bike I have in mind for them maxes out at about 38mm tires.

The AC gravel wheelset was high quality and ahead of the rest of the pack with a very light aluminum wheel with 25mm internal width that was as light as some carbon wheels, and at a great price too. I still have a set and I hope they start making wheels again. The tire does not excite me however but I wish them luck with future iterations. Amazon gives then huge exposure to the market but takes about 15 - 30% of the sales price (depending on which source you believe).

AC wheels were the best! They were ahead of the pack in so many ways… The Argent belongs in the pantheon of gods.

Dredging up a slightly older thread..anyone running the Kimberlite tires? What size? Fast on tarmac?

My buddy bought a pair of Kimberlites. They roll fast, they do seem sturdy, but a bit chunky. I was tempted to buy them, but even their new "armor edition" 700x35c tire weighs around 465g. Though I did buy their Timekeeper "armor edition" slicks in 700x30c for my road bike and I love them! They're quite lightweight, roll very fast and priced competitively against Continental and Vittoria slicks. I was hoping to go with the AMC gravel tires as well, but I think I'd lean towards a set of Gravelking SS tires based on weight, similar tread pattern and the fact you can find them discounted.
