I've pondered the thought of moving up a disc brake Gravel/Adventure/Whatever you want to call it bike and I found this one on Bikes Direct. Yes I know part of it would have to be assembled but i've been pretty impressed on the things I've read and videos I've watched about the Haanjo series. Anybody here have one?

This would probably be the max end of my budget..

Good value for the money in value brand Diamondback.

If you're around 5'8-5'10" - it might be a good fit.

Really strong deal for $500. The crankset gearing and cassette is great for the 8sp setup.
Ive assembled 3 diamondback roadbikes with the same drivetrain, cockpit and brakes as what you are looking at. The bikes are a very good value overall. The 2 areas where cost savings can be seen are the brakes(entry level so little adjustment) and the wheelset(generic components and needed to be trued). Pretty small negatives for the price.


Another suggestion is the mongoose selous sport. It has sora shifting instead of claris, but an aluminum fork instead if steel(at this pricepoint id rather have steel for reducing vibration). Its $540, but thats before nashba's endless stream of sales. You could get it for $440 and shipping if you play the waiting game for a sale.

i am thinking of buying a Haanjo Tero and i have a 650b wheelset with 2" tires sitting in the garage that i'd like to swap in. i know the carbon Haanjo would accommodate that wheel/tire combo, i'd wager the higher spec alu Haanjo frames would do so, as well. but the Tero frame appears to be a different design from the pricier Haanjo models. has anyone converted a Tero to 650b? if so, what tire width have you fitted?

so i chanced it... chain stays are the limiting factor, the 27.5 x 2.0 Contis installed are good for where i ride, but i think 2.1 would be pushing it and mud would be a problem. otherwise, good to go.

Nice, love the color! Pic #1, if those are bumpers on the derailleur cable housing, slide them up and they will protect from rubbing on the head tube. Maybe. Sort of. In theory....

I have a Diamondback Haanjo Trail I enjoy riding a lot. Haven't ridden enough decent bikes to see how it compares but I like rolling down the road letting the wind blow where my hair used to be. Not worried about every pothole in my driveway but still gets down the road so much better than my mountain bike.

it really is a lot of fun! i've taken it on a few trails and i swear it's like old school mountain biking when we all rode rigid, except for the bars, which makes even more fun. and it still gets along well on the road. i have changed to crankset to 46/30 for better offload gearing. next, i'll be changing to a WTB dirt drop bar to get more flare. great bike.

my wife likes hers, too. i found a good price for a RaceFace Aeffect 27.5 wheelset, she is on Panaracer GravelKing SK 1.9. i changed her crankset to 46/30, as well. so glad DB had that blowout sale in the spring! :)

I wouldn't want to break a spoke with that little clearance though! :-O

I'm experimenting with using 700c/54mm front tire for the rough stuff (different bike). Yeah, its a lot like old school ridged mountain biking or a ridged 29er - just faster on the wide open stretches or when biking to the trail head.

+1 jealous of the green paint job.
