Good Sub 1.5k Shallow Carbon DiscBrake Clincher Wheelset
 

I think so far, Hunt and Scribe are my top choices. Anybody have some comparison between these two?
I am looking for Discbreak carbon wheelsets that are not too deep (these are my backup wheels on high crosswind days). I think 42mm is the max i'd go for.
Anybody have other suggestions?

Over your price but I love my Bora tubular disc wheels.

Bontrager has a new set (Aeolus Pro 37 or something like that) that falls within those parameters and have a nice, modern, wide rim profile and DT Swiss hubs internals. If you're going to be running wider tires (28mm+), these would be near the top of my list.

If you're really in to the latest wheel/tire trends, and you'll running wide, tubeless tires, the Zipp 303S would also be a great choice. I picked up a set in the spring and they've been fantastic.

I saw these today: Mercury Wheels S5 Disc Wheelset - Tubeless | Competitive Cyclist. Any thoughts from anyone?

Edit to add: I've been looking at FFWD as well. And Light Bicycles. I'm probably not going to buy anytime soon, but I'm looking.

I'd go for Light Bicycle or Far Sports wheels with some Carbon-Ti or DT Swiss hubs. Best value going. The 30mm Far Sports Feder with Carbon Ti are 1130 grams hookless, or 1190 hooked. 1159 bucks (plus about 76for shipping).

Why would back-up wheels need to be carbon? I chose Fulcrum racing 3 wheels for my two disc brake bike builds. Tubeless ready and no rim strip required. I chose Michelin 28mm tubeless tires.

The $500 price from Merlin may not last long, since Pro Bike Kit and Chain Reaction both raised prices. https://www.merlincycles.com/fulcrum...et-149739.html The slight down side to Merlin is the wheels come without valve stems and two small bushings that go under the clamp nut on the valve stem. I bought one pair from chain reaction before the price increase and they came in factory packaging with all accessories. I complained to Merlin, but they said that's why their price is lower.

The new Campy shamal carbon is nice, if you can wait awhile.

I just ordered a Reynolds ATR 700c db wheelset for the Lynskey; less than $1100 on mybikeshop.com.

The rim specs for the ATR:
ID: 23mm
OD: 32mm
Depth: 40mm

NovemberBicycles has several options below your price point. Hand built, great components, and great customer service. I have bought 2 sets of wheels from them.

That's what I'd be looking at if it were me. Except the tire selection is somewhat limited, but maybe less random in terms of fit than with TL clincher rims.

Anything with DT EXP hubs might potentially be more future proof though.

Based on questions from my wife, I think a set of FFWD F6 deep rim wheels with dt 240 hubs may be in my future.

I have a set of FFWD F6 and F4s and I really love them both. Couldn’t recommend them more. Both are running tubeless.

Those look amazing. They were running a pretty good end of the year sale - if they arrive (I believe they'll be here mid-January) I'm going to set them up tubeless. I may have some Conti gt5000 tubeless on the way...

This x10. Far Sports even has 10% every November. Getting a wheelset built around DT180’s are Carbon Ti hubs, Sapim CX Ray spokes at weight of ~1200 grams for $1300 is a bargain.

I would advocate looking at some Boyd wheels. They should hit your price point and you can write to Boyd Johnson and get a reply from the company owner if you wish for recommendations or consultation on which wheel to choose. I have some of their carbon 50 mm wheels and they are great. He even gave me a more discounted price because I wanted tubular and they don't sell that many tubulars anymore. The other recommendation for the Campy Bora wheels is also good. I have some Campy wheels and they are really excellent. Great hubs and bearings. Always stay in true. And, well, looking down there and seeing the Campy name will make you faster...

Are you running 25 or 28s? And what pressure are you running on the F6 rims? Just curious - I have a set of 25mm tubeless 5000s ready to go (that was the recommended size for aero), but I have been running 28mm Rubino Pros (not tubeless) on my Fulcrum 5s. Just curious about your experience.

Depending on what width tire you want to run, the Spinergy Stealth FCC 3.2 would probably be a most excellent choice.

They’re 32mm deep, 18mm internal, tubeless ready, weigh 1455g, use their cool aero blades fiber spokes, cost $1k, and can be crazy customized by spoke color.

If you run 23 or 25c, that’d be a pretty good fit.

Whatever weight Hunt is advertising add at least 10% to the total. There are dozens of better options than Hunt’s garbage wheels out there.
