where do the temps have to be, for you to start up again?

Some years I've ridden in any temperatures, but this year, I wimped out and only rode when it was above 0 (F) / -17.7 (C). Once it was warmer than that, I started up again.

Upper 30sF. Bus is too easy in the cold.

Once it gets above ZERO? Holy cow, that is hard core!

I don't stop. I just change bikes.

When the forecast is below 100F at 5pm

I have commuted in years past with the temp at 15 deg fahrenheit but this year I have not just due to so many other circumstances. But now that the temps are above 20 deg fahrenheit I am back out and commuting to work. As long as there is no water/ice on the roads (or precipitation from the sky) in the am I should be fine between now and this coming November for bike commuting.

Before I retired 39 months ago, I generally biked to work only when it was above freezing, which worked out to Spring through Fall in Central Indiana. Biked to work almost every day while living in Atlanta.

+20F, but also very snow ice dependent and overnight freeze thaw conditions. But I retired in Dec so no commute anymore

The older I get the higher the minimal temp. and the lower the maximum temp have become.
I am now in the medicare age group and if it is a wind chill below 40 in the morning, I am driving to work.

You actually build up to it, so it is not as noticeable. Eventually I start to wear multiple layers, switch from sunglasses to ski goggles, and from cycling gloves to large mittens. If you suddenly drop into a climate that is 5 degrees (F), you would have a hard time. But if you had been riding in 10 degree weather the week before that, it doesn't seem much different.

It's spring now, and one of my least favorite seasons. It snows, partially melts, then freezes. That makes for a mess and a slippery or bumpy commute. I also hate riding through puddles that are 3"+ deep. No matter how good my fenders are, I still end up getting wet. So all things considered, the month of March is the worst.

It has been a chilly year so far here in the corner of the Southwest. Lots of 30's and low 40's. I rode many days in the low 40's, but wimped out and took the car many days, also. Be different if I do as I intend and have our family go from 2 cars to 1, then I will have at least some "have to" behind my commute.

I second that notion.

Temps dont stop me from riding. Snow, ice and rain will. Even then, I'll still ride in the snow if there isnt ice underneath. I've ridden as cold as -5F

I have lived for some time in Phoenix and would only bike when it was below 90F / 32 C

I dont stop just ride different bikes. the fat bike comes out on the days that cars can barely make it down the road..

I commute all year round. I don't mind temperatures being well below freezing. However if there is ice or snow on the ground I will work from home. 2 wheel recumbent bikes and slippery roads is a no go. Fortunately this only happens at less than 5 days a year here in North Texas. If I would live further north I would probably get a beater trike for winter roads.

Understood. But I guess everyone has a different meaning of season. :D My season only stops when there is ice or snow on the road. And mainly because I don't have the right bike for these road conditions since there are normally less than 10 days a year like this here in Texas. But I also hate riding when the temp gets much north of 100F/40C. Last summer was tough with temps above the mid 90s and humidity in the 90s for weeks. This is the time when long for riding your bike in the rain.

Phoenix, man. I grew up there. About ten years ago I visited my parents out there around Labor Day and they were having a record streak of >110F days. At night it was cooling off to 90. My Dad wanted me to get a job there and take over the house he built there. But there was just no way I was moving back. It really wasn't that hot forty years ago. Even if it got that hot in the day it cooled off more at night. Googling, I see that last year they had the first recorded five day streak of 115's, after 2020 saw two 4-day streaks. jeeesus that was a good decision
