Tour De Independence Day Eve Update, Day 0.5: Traffic a bit lighter than normal, except on the Gallaher View Expressway. Light winds. We're getting a welcome break from not-summer. I should have allowed more rest time between my last effort and this tour. Dead legs. But I HTFU and kept touring. A woman driver at a stop light asked me what kind of shorts I was wearing. wut

Finally got to a place with a strong enough signal that I can post.

Two rounds of storms hit Wednesday. Lots of thunder and lightning close by. Fortunately, this was not my campsite.

Never thought one would need scuba tanks when touring :twitchy:.

Today on short, steep (for me) hill, I had to follow a very slow moving (looking for an address) amazon delivery van until he found the house he was looking for.

Did I just motor-draft? If I did, does it make me “elite” now?

I guess I can always get a poll going :)

You’ve just been sexually harassed. :twitchy:

Bah Humbug gifted some brifters and derailleurs to another Addictionite which was a very nice gesture.

Let me alert everyone here that when I am done using the awesome Marigold jacket. I will not be giving it to anyone. It is already slated for immediate induction into the Awesome Jacket Hall of Fame, located in NW Metro Atlanta.

Had a nice, mostly relaxed ride this morning, but I was pretty sure that some ol' lady was gonna get me killed for a minute, there. I was going downhill on a bridge with a shoulder/bike lane that was rapidly coming to an end. The lady had passed me a few seconds before the end of the bridge, but then grew indecisive about turning left or going straight, straddling both lanes. Cars with a head of steam were rapidly approaching from behind, and I thought for sure that they'd be swerving around her at just the wrong time for me. Fortunately, the drivers were observant and had enough time/distance to stop without killing me (at which point they very loudly berated the lady).

Just rode 3 miles home from the train station after 30 down the shore. I think it’s like 6,000,000 degrees outside.

Wut? The earlier, the better! How else are you going to avoid the HEAT!?!?

I leave for my morning commutes around 5:10-5:15 and even before I get to work I start dreading the afternoon’s ride back home!

Cycling shorts are in fashion. Try to keep up.

I got up at 4 and hit the road at 5:30. I must be insane.

There were a few new people on the MUP this morning. One was an older man on an older Trek with a bell on his bars and a large smartphone bungee-corded to his stem. He was stronk though; chasing him down was the hardest thing I've done on that path. He was easily the fastest person I've ever seen who wasn't a tri geek paceline. As is often the case, you'd never have known it from looking at him and his Fredly bike.

STUPID CAGERS! Enough already...

A couple of days ago on my evening commute, I was compelled to knock on the window of a young dude to tell him not only did he turn right on a no turn on red sign, but also almost hit me while doing that!

All I got was (non surprisingly), “I’m very sorry man.” :notamused::bang::troll:

Back from a 15 mile hard grind, due to a dragging brake. I didn't have the correct tool to fix it. When I ultimately get down to just two riders, a year from now, this will be one of them. Because I was going to post it here, I made a point of aligning the valves on the mis-matched wheels

Storks bring them. That’s what I’m told. :innocent:

Or the nice delivery person in a brown truck, which works for the stork collective.

Felt great until about mile 68 and then my heart rate jumped up considerably and I couldn’t get it to go back to where it was comfortable. My left foot went numb at mile 70 ish and then my left have never felt tingly but it feels really weak. Couldn’t close the top of my water bottle with my left hand. Jacked something up with the nerves, otherwise great ride just wish I could have gone longer.

seedsbelize 07-03-20 11:12 AM

I witnessed no aggressive behavior on this morning's ride. A relief, as I really like that route.

bampilot06 07-03-20 11:13 AM

seems like strava glitched it counted my ride twice. I retract the previous whistle.

I marveled at you elevation gain for the ride. ;)

That's a new long ride for you, innit? Kudos!

His Hawk Mountain ride is long. And depending on which way they do the climb to the hawk sanctuary, it’s either really hard or really painful.
