The reason has been highlighted with bold letters above. Such is their nature.

Me, too. Also, I'm taking all of next week off. This will be my first full week off work for at least 2 years. My holiday time is usually eaten up with a few extra days around a weekend for out-of-town softball tournaments.

I'm just lucky I don't crash on the trainer!

Not me! We get Friday off, plus I'm taking Wednesday and Thursday. Then the company gives us the whole week between Christmas and New Years off.

We are closed on Christmas Eve. We are also closed the following Friday.

***** is that we don't get makeup days when the actual holidays fall on Saturdays, only on Sundays. No make up days for the eves ever. The best is when the eves are on Mondays and Thursday. Two four-day weekends in a row.

I've bumped shoulders at the start of CX races, but after a couple of hundred meters I'm usually well clear of the scrum.

The peak of my racing abilities was as a sprinter racing Cat 3. It wasn't pro-level bumping and shoving, but contact wasn't unusual.

Even as a B-pack club racer and Cat-IV (before there was a Cat V) I experienced occasional physical affection, especially on corners. A shoulder or elbow was far preferable to locking bars with someone. My racing mentors also liked to bump me (when they weren't seat-slinging me up hills) on training rides.

Never heard of it. But if you were about to lose the leave, how can you donate it to someone else?

You can donate it to anyone on a list of people who have applied for leave transfer and who HR has determined has a legitimate need. Not wanting one to choose people at random, I donated it to the leave bank, which is a voluntary pool which employees can donate to and withdraw from if they are under hardship. I am not a member.

Seven is the proper sequence, obviously.
