Got my annual century ride in this weekend ... 100 miles and small change. Comparatively easy ride in terms of hills but I wasn't feeling confident in my conditioning this year - 68 years old and had gone back to work last October so sitting at the computer all day. All in all, though, felt pretty good, Drop-dead gorgeous day here in CT.

Got my Pfizer booster shot yesterday and even though I knocked out a tough 20 mile on Zwift after, today felt tired and took a nap during ride time. Will be back at it and more invincible tomorrow.

Edit: Rode today and knocked out 30 and 2K climbing and it felt good. A couple of PRs and a surprise 1st for my age group on one segment. Not feeling any effects today so back to life as usual, but with less concern (and far less in two weeks).

After work here too. Roads 25 miles. A massive 984 foot total elevation climb here in Southern Maryland. Weather great. Low of 59 F.

Just 18. Two loops around Fiesta Island in a double rotating paceline.

Wait, it’s only 10 AM PCT here so 12 CT and you already got in a century? Good on ya!

In the spirit of BF, maybe we can have a spirited name calling argument about time zones or wind and rain or maybe the fact that riding in Michigan is at a higher latitude or something. I’ll start - you give me a sour stomach with your high mileage and refusal to ride in a monsoon. Obviously you are not a ‘serious’ or ‘humorous’ cyclist. So there! (Hope I proved I am right and hurt your masculinity and feelings. - but if you were truly masculine, you wouldn’t have any). Double so there!!

That insults my sit-bone!
I start as early as I can to beat that bird getting the worm. A nice open route is beyond enjoyable, & it's only possible before the general publics alarms start going off. Sometimes an unfavorable ride happens, but that's mainly due to the withdrawals if I haven't got a (decent) ride in lately.

I would ride in the wet more often if the vehicle operators were not so careless/reckless...

I bet you have decent weather but the scenery might have been lacking! :p

kahn 10-02-21 12:16 PM

23/700 and it was definitely cool. Fall was more than in the air. It was on my chest and in my toes! I'm not quite ready for it.

lol, depends on if my wife is in the room or not

however, I did 40 today, wind was shifting all over the place today, from the east, south, southeast...it was horrible.

23 miles and I babied myself, such as one can riding SS on an old MTB. Trails were wet after rains so I was respecting the conditions, too, I suppose, but mostly I just took it easy. Managed to get home before the next round of rain, too. 😊

Haven’t ridden today yet, but will climb onto the Peloton here in a bit 😞 due to kids’ sports and misc family stuff most of the day. But did about 25 yesterday despite cutting it short when I remembered I had an appointment to donate blood. I did make a quick stop to snap this photo to capture the clear blue skies, which have been unfortunately rare this summer due to wildfire haze. I feel really fortunate to have this 30 minutes from my driveway. Not quite what people visualize when they think of Las Vegas, but it’s literally 25 miles from the Strip.

Edit: the photo is a cropped panoramic as I couldn’t get the whole thing to upload, so there are likely some weird irregularities.

Nice mix of rural and urban views.

ofajen 10-03-21 06:43 PM

A different 23 miles today, but still taking it easy. We had over two inches of rain overnight, so there were a couple of washed out places and I was glad I popped the mudguards on, too.

Sounds like your recovery is going well.

Pretty good, thanks! The danger of this time of year is that I want to ride every day because the temps are good and the leaves are turning. Probably need to have days off from cycling and do other workouts, but cycling is more fun!
