October 2016 100+ mile thread

It's the 2nd of October and as far as I can tell, no one has started this thread. So here goes.

Monthly goal — 250 miles

10/1 — 31.5
10/2 — 29.3
10/04 — 15.6
10/6 — 7.8
10/7 —20.7
10/9 — 11.0
10/9 — 4.1
10/12 — 13.6
10/14 — 36.2
10/15 — 27.1
10/21 — 30.9
10/22 — 50.5
10/25 — 16.5
10/29 — 50.0
MTD — 347.8

10/29 — I rode in my first gravel race yesterday. 50 miles of about 90% gravel only about 500 feet of climbing, but a strong headwind coming out of the Northwest. Definitely took some extra effort and grit to complete that course, but I finished.

I'm upping my month goal from 250 (last) to 300.

I did a 32 mile ride 10/1 and it was actually quite nice, except for the random downpours I experienced. :D

Cyclist0084 10-02-16 09:01 AM

Maybe if I set a low enough goal this month, I'll actually hit it. I've done pretty poor when it comes to setting a goal but then falling woefully short each of the past few months. :(

So, having said that, I'm going to be shooting for 150 miles this month.

Oct 02 - 10.06 miles.

MTD = 10.06 miles of (at least) 150 miles.

:)

"Enjoyed" a thorough beat down racing cyclocross in Reno on Saturday. Just couldn't generate enough Clyde power to keep in the lead group. It's a doubleheader weekend and having a healthy breakfast and a couple doses of caffeine before heading out to Sundays race.

Goal for the month 500 miles, 6 races, and avoid DFL!

Edit: got my mug in the online version of the Reno paper on Sunday and had a chance to look at race results, finished 8th in my class. Not as bad as I thought.

150 miles is nothing to sneeze at. You can do it!

I've set a goal of 300 miles for this month. 41 miles so far for October. I wish everyone well with their goals this month.

baron von trail 10-02-16 07:00 PM

Good start to the month, 100 miles to date.

IBOHUNT 10-03-16 06:15 AM

I'm in for 20 hours.

Total so far: 4hrs

1242Vintage 10-03-16 08:03 AM

MTD 15 miles.

Just passed 5,000 miles for the year. Easy to do in No CA where we don't get rain or extreme cold. Just had the first rain at the house last night in over four months.

Weather work and everything in general gave me a horrible biking month of September. Ended up with on 59 miles on 4 rides with a long of 26.

Goal for October is 200 as it was in August. I need to get back out and see the colors change this month. Also want a 35+ mile ride this time, to surpass my 31.9 all-time long.

macpolski 10-03-16 09:05 AM

I didn't make my Sept goal of 400 miles. :(

Oct Goal will be 300.

10/03 -- 15.7
10/04 -- 26.3
10/07 -- 17.3

MTD: 59.3

Jaxjag 10-03-16 10:15 AM

I'll shoot for 150.

29.25 to date

Milton Keynes 10-03-16 10:42 AM

My usual goal is 200 miles a month. So far for October I've got 60 thanks to yesterday's 51 mile ride and this morning's 9 miles (would have done my usual 10 but my legs were pretty tired from yesterday's ride). Riding 10 miles or more every morning has really upped my totals, not to mention kept me in better shape with the regular exercise as opposed to maybe riding an evening here or there.

IBOHUNT 10-03-16 05:05 PM

90 minutes of endurance pace tonight.

5 1/2 hours this month

100 more; 200 MTD.

IBOHUNT 10-04-16 05:05 PM

48 minutes on the bike. Got 2 intervals done then limped home. It was as @Black wallnut would say... PoundSign Awesome

That's 6:20 this month. Average is just shy of my target for the amount of time I want to spend on the bike for a given ride.

mrodgers 10-05-16 05:01 AM

I didn't post yet. Don't know what to make of a goal, another 400 mile month isn't going to happen with one weekend done with rain and a paddle event next weekend rather than riding.

10/03 - 17.0

MTD - 17.0 miles

JGM411 10-05-16 07:25 AM

I'm in at 300 miles, maybe a stretch to 350.

9/2 20.7
9/5 20.6
9/6 20.7

MTS 62.0

SugarMonkey 10-05-16 12:08 PM

MTD: 64

I sucked it up and went out into 15 mph sustained winds today so I didn't miss to many rides. Supposed to get scattered storms the next two days and I missed yesterday.

mrodgers 10-05-16 05:50 PM

Quick ride with a nice short fairly steep hill to climb.

10/03 - 17.0
10/05 - 13.2

MTD - 30.2 miles

1242Vintage 10-05-16 10:07 PM

Another cross race in the books, third so far this month. Energy level was low all day, until my butt hit the saddle. Raced strong and kept the rubber side down.

In other news I have a Spesh Crux expert cyclocross bike on order. Its a nice carbon frame with SRAM force drivetrain, hydraulic brakes, 1x11. Its a huge upgrade from my current race rig. Will be arriving next week. Fun factor will be going up.

IBOHUNT 10-07-16 06:49 AM

1:20 on the bike last night earning me 1,200 calories

7 1/2 hours this month

saint mucus 10-07-16 06:54 AM

121 miles so far, as soon as the sun comes up I'm going to add to it :) I'm just sitting here dressed, drinking coffee ready to go.

Hey Clydes and Athenas, give yourself a big round of applause for getting out there on the bike. You deserve it.

SugarMonkey 10-07-16 10:09 AM

93 MTD

You know you live in the flat lands when your total elevation gain is 63 feet. :D
