I think you're right, I just turned 50, and if I'm not careful riding in the sweltering summer heat down here, I will be done in less than 20 miles. My issue yesterday (6/24) was I'm on a much lighter bike now, so I was keeping up with some of the road guys, which in hindsight was a mistake. After a 10 mile "sprint" I was feeling a bit of fatigue, which I've never had before, so from now on, I'm sticking to my average speed, until the heat breaks in October. :)

Only 8.5 today on the old Allez. It's 106° here today. Better than yesterday's 111°. Not a good ride day. Heading for a 45 mile coast ride tomorrow to Carpenteria, CA.

It has been a long time since I did a metric century; so I took advantage of a cool front and went 64 miles today. It felt so much easier than the first one I ever did back in Nov. '16, and that one was a supported charity ride.

Rje58 06-26-17 09:15 PM

Only about seven miles.

FRC928 06-27-17 04:18 PM

Did 5 yesterday, and 6.2 today.

How did the new shock absorbtion headset feel to you? Considering Specialized gave up the Zertz end on the front, and past front-end shocks like this have always failed (or failed to impress riders), to see Specialized jump on it makes me wonder.

Last Saturday I rode 60 miles on the Roubaix after 92 early morning miles. The ride was comfortable and fast. Tuesday was a 101 miler with the same results. I felt the absorption was a definite plus for handling comfort and took nothing away from the response during acceleration or cornering.

Dirt Farmer 07-01-17 05:52 PM

38.8 miles, 2620 elevation gain.

Yesterday. 18 miles over the hill to Simi Valley, CA, thru Santa Susana pass. Here's the Santa Susana Depot, now a museum, and my Culprit.

Today 20 miles on the '73 Super Course, posted in Classic section.

crockettlarry 07-01-17 06:54 PM

About 9 miles separated into two separate rides. New bicycle, New larger me, long (years) layoff, so good start.
