I rode a real bike today for the first time in about a year. It was so fun. Just to work, but no limbs fell off and I felt free, alive, and happy.
I hope the Addiction crew is good and everyone is still alive. |

I did a bit of that for a few years. My objective was usually to get the person I was arguing with to use facts and reference documents to support their claims, instead of just hurling insults and parroting some internet meme or their favorite talking head.
It could get interesting if they would try to explain their side and actually make a point. Most of that went away after last November. Now, I rarely get involved and have blocked people I used to engage, including a family member who I once cared about and respected. |

Depends. If it's an open exchange of views, based on shared acceptance of the same data, that can be fun and enlightening.

Agreed. The topic is currently more polarizing that I've ever experienced, which has made rational discussion of differing opinions increasingly difficult.

Totally. I have no idea what the new cool stuff is. I've hoarded enough bike parts to last me forever. I'm at least one speed behind.
What will soon be cool is watching my kid grow into my wife's bikes. He'll start with that black and yellow magnesium Paketa my wife first had. He can crash on that bike. He'll need competence for the 2009 S2. |

Two ways to get off quickly:
1. In a criminal case, ask if you can consider all of the other stuff the defendant probably got away with. Follow it up with a comment like "I've just never known any truly innocent people who got arrested." 2. In a civil case, ask "If the plaintiff is saying that they had some damage because of something the defendant did, how much money can we give the plaintiff?" Bye bye jury duty! |

That's what I've always heard. There were some groups around my home town that would grind them up and cook it like ground meat. Cajuns grind it up and make fried patties out of it as well. Never acquired the taste.
Really like fried Crappie. |

But did the politics change, or did we? I want to say it's the politics but when I stop and examine topics, abortion, taxation, etc. Seams like the same old arguments. Maybe this is just another thing that happens when you get older?

I put up a notice on my book face page, that I would remove people for being overly political. It was great.. I'm down to a couple of clubs and my daughter and grandkids and a couple guys from work. Even people in my riding circle didnt survive the pandemic politics. No stress on my page.
I used to enjoy a good argument on-line, but I don't know if that's possible anymore. |

Maybe it's just us getting older. It seems to me like the personalities involved, and their tactics, have driven the "us vs. them" agenda harder than ever before. Maybe I'm just more aware than I've been in the past. We probably shouldn't dig into this too much deeper on this forum, however.

Here, it's $15 per day starting on the second day. No job I ever had paid for jury service but you can't claim financial hardship just because you don't get paid, I tried before., Since I no longer work it wouldn't matter anyway
You call in the night before and they tell you if you have to show up or not. After a week of that you are done until the next time. Also, I've had to go in before but didn't get on a panel, so done after one day. Another time I got taken to jury selection but there was a plea deal, so done again. |
No ride tonight, had to go to the dentist. Need to get a cap on a busted molar. Sucks. He doesn't even ride. Does not compute...

One of those things just came up on Facebook: "Without using numbers, how old are you?"
And I thought, "Sixty three". There. No numbers. Just words. |
