Where can I buy a Alero MO-BO ?
I want to mount a water bottle behind the saddle of my Cervelo R5.
All of the mounts I've found will not work on a Carbon framed saddle. Oh it gets better, and my seatpost is not round. The bike shipped with one of these below .... It replaces the rear saddle clamp and has a GoPro type knuckle for a camera or light. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d471b8df03.jpg Ideal solution is to hang the Alero MO-BO (see below) off the rear. But I can't find them for sale anywhere?? Anybody know where I can get one or it's equivalent?? Thanks Barry https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...889aab4181.jpg |
It gave me a warning to get to that website. I haven't seen anything that mounts oddly like that what saddle do you have? You might consider if possible getting a metal railed version of it, the weight is not an issue because you are adding a heavy mount with a bottle cage which is going to weigh a least a pound so a little saddle weight so you can mount normal triathlon bottle cage mounts would make more sense.

Security Cert on that site is expired... weird.
Carbon railed saddle is by Astute and sadly discontinued. I find it extremely comfy and purchased several of these while cheap on clearance. Want one now... ebay & $500+ so I'm not changing any time soon. The "odd mount" is not a function of the saddle, but an accessory mount that came as part of the seat post saddle clamp. The mount is a standard GoPro mount and also used for some tail lights. I believe this addition will add ~3oz to the bike (including the carbon bottle cage) and removal/replacement in under 20 seconds. So my proposed setup makes a lot of sense to me. I really wanted the MO-BO but I have found what I hope is a second best option. If it turns out to be compatible I'll follow up soon. Barry |
So after careful consideration I decided not to go in the original direction.
The Cervelo supplied Saddle clamp accessory mount pictured above place the retaining bolt directly inline with the saddle rails. I was unable to install, remove or tighten the bolt without moving the saddle fully rearward. Given that this additional (third) water bottle cage is only required from time to time I mounted it a totally different way. Better yet, the TOTAL WEIGHT added to the bike 37grams, yes... 1.3oz. That is a 25gram carbon bottle cage, plastic hardware & 3 zipties.... done. Barry |
I was sure the end result would be Velcro, probably a trouser cuff strap. I guess zip ties are pretty close. I’ve heard them called “millennial duct tape”

I get some credit....I avoided Duct tape !!! Though, I did use Self fusing silicon tape to stop it creaking! That tape is awesome, Sticks like _ _ _ _ to a blanket, but only to itself, and comes away clean. It's my go to stuff for bar tape finishing. Barry |
