Name or Signature on your bike?
Do you have your name signed in ink on your bike? Can I see picture proof? Any other personalization to identify it as Your Bike? :ride:
How can I do that? |
I bought an engraver and put my initials on my SA hubs. My custom frame has no serial #.
Also used that engraver to fix a sticky part in the hub. LOL |
Can't let shifting be too sticky! Bring on the slick shifting Sturmey-Archer.
|
Take detailed pics and store 'em online. Write a note on paper, roll it up, and place it in the seat tube.
|
It is a sticker not ink, and I don't own the bike anymore, but here is my name on the top tube.https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7758/1...81ce17f9_h.jpg

um. no

I have taken pics of the Serial Numbers of all my bikes.
You can purchase stickers with your name on them, like the pros have. https://www.bicistickers.com/en |

How can I do that? For some reason, I have your name on my bike. Not sure how that happened. |
I just repainted my older road frame for the second time. I never liked the Witcomb decals so it’s just been plain white since ‘93.
This time, I was thinking I might put on decals that say “stolen from...” and then my email and phone number on the bike. But it’s more likely that it will remain plain white. Otto |
I too take pics of the serial numbers of all my bikes. That's good enough for me ,security wise.
Sorry, I have no "because racecar +1000 watts" stickers on my bikes. |

I do on one of my bikes. I didn't ask for it, but Tim Isaac put it on anyway and clear-coated over it when he repainted the frame. Not that I mind, mind you.

My ti road bike is one of a kind, and I have a photo of it on my phone. I wouldn’t dare defile its appearance with my name, but it does have a small LOVE statue decal, which is cool.
|
I have a custom-built frame, and for a nanosecond I considered having my name painted on the top tube. But then I realized that might make my wife's second husband uncomfortable, if he is a cyclist and about 6'2" tall.
|
I haven't put my name on any bikes but three sport their own names. Jessica and the bike she inspired, Jessica J. When my namesake, the Peter Mooney, gets repainted, it will bear its name. Pete. INo relation to the builder, or my brother or uncle, all of whom go by Peter. Year two of the Mooney, I was riding and just realized the bike I was on was named Pete. That simple. I've tried naming bikes before but always ended up forgetting. But this time, the bike told me and it has stuck for 38 years without being written down.
Jessica (now retired) sports her name on the top tube. Jessica J is ti, so hers is on the right fork blade. Peter will probably go top tube. Ben |
I do have stickers on some of my bikes
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b353cdce_k.jpgUntitled by Stuart Black, on Flickr https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1f1bf7d5d.jpeg But these are just for personalization. I’m not under the impression that this is any kind of theft deterrent. I do, however, write my name and phone number on the steer tube of the fork... “This bike might be stolen. Contact Stuart Black at xxx xxx-xxx.” I do all my own mechanical work and I haven’t taken a bike to a shop for decades. If the bike ends up in a shop, it would likely be stolen. |
I've got Tom Kellogg's name on my chainstay. Seems like a downgrade to add mine.
|
I have some stickers with my name and the Bear Flag. Put them on all my bikes, but don't have any specific pictures of them so you'll have to take my word.
If you wanted a signature with ink, do you mean just signing your name on your bike with a Sharpie or Magic Marker? |
Yep --- on all of my regularly ridden machines

cb400bill's Trek looks like what I'd like. And maybe Reflector Guy has it right, 'because racecar.'
But when you like your ride, or have spent quality time on it, it's nice to have some personalization. |

I gave some thought for a while of acquiring a Buick hood ornament and putting it on my Day 6 as a head badge.
