After a long dry spell (of doing any real riding), I finally got back in the saddle today.

40.4 miles @ 15.1.

I refuse to post my mileage within 10 posts of @OldTryGuy...

Since I returned to bicycling this past June I have regimented myself to 16.1 miles in the early mornings Monday thru Friday. My door to door average speed is 14.5~15.8 mph. Not as fast as some of you, but I'm getting faster each week.

It sure makes me feel better and I've dropped some 'tonnage'...... Which allows my beer consumption to increase slightly..... well maybe more that slightly. Win-Win.

4.5 miles round trip to a client's house and back, on my old Tassajara. Slightly hilly and very chilly!

:D Retired with a wonderful wife of 44 years who encourages me to ride AND pays for my bikes.

Last Saturday 127 miles, Tuesday 156 miles and today 101 miles.

Kind of surprised that STRAVA has me at 10,412.3 miles as of today for this year, most ever.

55 Miles, weather said it would be 50° but it was 32° one hour into the ride and dropped quickly. My water bottles froze. It was 22° an hour from home. I'm very glad I had enough cold weather gear with me.

MePoocho 12-11-17 08:19 AM

Awakened this morning for my 20 mile daily dawn ride only to find Mr. Frost came to Palm Bay, Florida during the night.

It was 42f and frost on all roofs. People were using their credit cards to scrape car windshields..... Gees, this is Florida I said to myself. It only happens a couple of times a year here. Get your large rear going and quit whining.

Not having much cold weather gear I did the best I could by layering up three 'T' shirts, one hoodie sweat, long gym pants, stocking hat under my helmet, and my welding gloves...... I was determined not to wimp out.

Well,,,, a scant seven miles into the bitter cold I could not feel my finger tips or toes. The cold was unbearable, parts of my body the I didn't know I have were rebelling.

So I caved into weakness and aborted..... Got home and only did 14 miles of my 20. I was so upset with my whossie weakness I had a couple of 'cold-ones'. With renewed courage I vowed that tomorrow morning in the cold I'd make my 20.

Man,,, I have a new respect to you folks that ride up north in the cold.....

one4smoke 12-11-17 07:13 PM

33.4 @15.1 mph. Temp not too bad at 57, but winds gusting around 30 mph!
