Experience w/ Mekk Pista T1, Hoy Fiorenzuola .002?

I've been enjoying riding at Hellyer on the rental Specialized Langster Pros, but am thinking about getting my own track bike.

With both the Mekk Pista T1 and the Hoy Fiorenzuola .002 on sale, I was wondering if anyone has experience with either. I haven't seen too many reviews.

They seem like a good entry option, and a nice step up respectively.

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the sport and to the forum.

I can't find much info on Mekk and they don't post their geometry. I find the Hoy to be a well though-out mid-level bike. Not entry level. It's one that you can certainly grow into.

Recent chatter about the Hoy:

Thanks Carleton.

I did find the Mekk geometry on wiggle:

But very strange that they don't post it on their website.

Good to know that the Hoy is a solid choice.

If you want a bike from the UK check out the Dolan range. It is a perhaps the 3rd or 4th popular bike at my local velodrome.

They list the fork offset at 45mm...that's a road fork. It'll work OK, but the leading track bike manufacturers are using 30-35mm with 40mm being the upper limit.

Dolan: 30mm
LOOK 496: 34mm
Felt TK1: 40mm

Also 55mm is kinda low for a bottom bracket drop.

Between the two, I'd suggest the Hoy.

Very happy with the Hoy .001 I got, been using it for track league on an outdoor track this summer. Now seen a couple of others with the same bike and they've been happy. Note the tyres that come on it are fairly average, the cog is NOT DA like the model number implies and I had an issue with the head of the seatpost (resolved by buying a £20 seatpost as I couldn't be bothered to take the other one back). All in all I can live with that given the price.

I've also just got a 2nd hand Dolan DF3 for keeping at the indoor track the other side of London for Winter League as I need to keep one there to have any chance of racing after work.
Choice was mostly due to the fact it was going 2nd hand rather than any issues with the Hoy. Only just received so haven't ridden it yet to compare.
