tour de france exercise bike? anyone try it/own one?
 

saw the commercial on them a while back my girl takes the spin class at the gym all the time. what do you guys think about the bike? i know the spin class she takes is pretty intense because i got her into them constantly up and down on the seat and raising the resistance but at home theres no trainer telling you what to do. saw the bike and from what ive seeen you can choose different places to ride and it auto changes the resistance like if your climbing. i found one on craigslist my girls b day is coming up in a couple of months curious if its worth a buy. thanks in advanced heres a link to the ad just incase some havent seen it

I go to spinning class a couple of times a week. Love it, love the sweat, and the motivation of being in a group with a leader.
A few years back after an operation I hade to rehab on an exercise bike, and found ten minutes to be mind numbingly boring!
So, anything that can keep you motivated, like the different modes on the TDF bike would be a major plus in my book...

never tried one, but I really want to. Price seems a touch high for used. I am looking forward to some reviews

It's one I fancy having a go with but don't have the space for one. Last I saw you could buy a brand new one for (I think) $1400. So on that basis a year-old model for $800 seems fair, as long as it's in working order.

No, but don't buy unless you can give it a good workout. Not all are created equal, some making spinning downright unpleasant. If it's a bike I don't know, I'd like to give it a 30 minute spin routine, up and down, hi cadance, make sure it's going to work for me. And then there's a maintenance issue, I'd be curious about parts availability for the TdF and whether there is a maintenace guide online.

Looks cool but being from SoCal, why not just buy her a bike so she can ride with you, weather is nice most of the time. :D Let her do her spin at the gym then enjoy rides together. ;)

+1! I've never tried one, but everything I've heard is that the TdF is way overpriced (and overhyped) for its quality and what it does.
