useless bag thread...
freight train bags rule. i just picked one up, handmade locally, a hundred bucks. carried a case of beer, enough groceries for the next few days, some water, a couple of books, some anarchist propaganda newspapers from a show i went to last night, my emergency tools, and another backpack that i put inside the bag...
not too spendy for a good bag, made by a cool dude, and even though it doesn't look like the chrome kremlin, you can fit about as much stuff in it, and you could get some customization.. so i have to put a plug in for it. |
C'mon, where are the pictures? We must has visual stimuli.
|
heh, okay. i'll have to fill it up again first. i can't wait to see owen (who makes these bags) and tell him i'm pleased with his work.
|
So this is something different than Freight Baggage of SF?
|
I think I met this dude a couple years ago when I was travelling through Portland. Does he also make really durable pants out of awning material? I was gonna give him this bike I was riding, but never could get ahold of him. Post some pictures.
|
yeah, it's different than freight baggage.
BST, you could well have met him. he's made pants for some people. some with some fancy stitching, but also made to be tough for lots of riding. i'll bet he's made some pants out of awning material. he's sort of the personal seamstress to several people here in town. heh. |
I thought this was a thread for useless bags...
|
I'm going to be in Portland in a month or so, how do I get hooked up with one of these bags?
|
I got a Jack Spade "messenger" bag for free once and still use it very occasionally despite the fact that it is the most useless bag in the world. It holds maybe three books and a Larabar. But then again, sometimes all you need are three books and a Larabar so I break out the Jack Spade.
|
Yeah this guy was making pants along the same lines as carhartts except alot more durable and useful. Believe he was makin them under the Freight Train Blues monniker, had his card for a while.

Those freight train bags do look nice... saw one today in Bike Central. Great graffix, and super heavy duty. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of very many pockets.
On another note, I picked up a Bailey Works bag today and carried a change of clothes, 3 bottles of Trader Joe's wine, bunch of cliff bars, stir fry veggies, a pineapple, box of cereal, tofu, etc. and it felt very comfortable. But the Freight Train Bags do look nice, and it's good to see someone local getting into the mix like that. |

freight train bags i've known owen for a lot of years, and he's a great effin dude. |
pics are taken, but not posted.
owen is a cool dude. we've never had a conversation that can really be considered a conversation...we always sound stoned when we talk to one another..."dude, that's rad...." "oh....yeah." "yeah....totally". nonetheless, a cool dude. |

freight is better established, i think, so owen should probably think about operating under a different moniker. also, i love my freight train bag, but i wish he would use metal fasteners instead of plastic. |

JACKED
I'm looking for a fanny pack/U-lock holster. I know flippinghades makes them, but buddy there's nothing listed on your site, and reload makes them, but who else makes one you like? Edit: nevermind, don't worry about it |
