Ended up it was my helmet hitting my sunglasses going over the rough parts. It was the first time wearing those glasses on the road.

I once had that happen with the dial on the back of my helmet- it kept hitting the helmet (it was too loose) and I thought my seatpost was creaking

Not on the bike, but we do that with our trainer after doing the big lifts. Either 30/30 or a tabata of some sort

I THOUGHT I dropped out of that and signed up for the B ride, only 24 miles. But when I chose "Join Event", I found myself in the pen for the 34 mile ride. "Oh, well," I thought, "What the hell?"

I figured an hour and a half, except I didn't figure on going up Fox Hill and Box Hill. Ended up being closer to 2 hours (1:53). Gaaaahhhh.... That was tiring!

last time I Zwifted for some reason my trainer was not adjusting for hills. Iím going to blame my crappy old laptop for now.

Yesterday, I put the gravel wheels on the Aspero and took it for a spin. Itís barely any slower with 38mm SKs than with the with the 28mm tires. If I do anything with this bike upgrade wise in the near future, itíll be getting more gearing up front, but honestly donít think I need it. I love the **** out of this thing and definitely made the right decision with 2 wheel-1bike solution.

going to cut the steerer soon, I think I have to drop the stem just a touch more and a 10mm longer stem will have it exactly like the R3.

Today I start the chain cleaning/waxing adventure. Of all things, this was the hardest to convince my wife to let me do because ďwe donít have room for an extra crock potĒ so instead Iím doing the Silca wax in a bag.

I have one particular helmet that creaks and it took me many rides to figure it out.

Since I didn't get any letters in the first guess, I should get credit for two. Right? :)

They're gross. The first set will have you asking why you're doing this **** at about the halfway point. You then make it through, and the next two sets aren't anything like the first one, though the last one, you will be counting them down... 6 7 8 9 10 left.... 7 8 9 10 left. WAY more than halfway done.... etc.

You have a set number you are supposed to shoot for. Stay at that number, because the first couple are going to be cake, and you're going to feel just fine. You will want to overshoot by a large margin, and that will bugger up the last 6. If there is a training mistake to be made, I've done it. Stick to the 120% or whatever number you're supposed to be at.

That said, I'd rather do 3x10' 30"/30" than 4x10' 40"/20" I won't even speak of Tabata's.

Im still a little confused about what I am suppose to be aiming for. Not a huge deal, I am sure he will re explain it to me before he has us start doing these. My max heart rate appears to be 185 ish. This is an estimate based on what what I say last ride, 182-183.
So for the the hard 30 seconds is aim to see that? Or is it a power number?

I really hope when the interval training starts I am able to ride with the group the first time, I have a feeling I am going to screw this up.

Taba what?

I have the worlds smallest crock pot in my garage, literally takes up no room. I keep forgetting to buy wax though.

Roads arnt bad but covered just enough to not be safe. Hope it clears up so I can get out later. The wind is another story.

Target had a crock pot for about $10 that was about the size of a half-gallon of milk.

A forecast high of 74A today. An uncommon occurrence in that we don't break 80.

These need to be power-based because HR has way too much lag to reach a meaningful number on such a short interval. Longer sets of 30/30s are usually done in Z5, i.e., at 105-120% of FTP. Shorter sets can be max efforts. Depends what mechanism youíre trying to train.

so if my ftp is 230 ish than it would be trying to hold 260 for 30 seconds roughly? That doesnít sound terrible but I am sure I am just naive. I think the harder part will be not going over the 260 wattsz

bampilot06 01-29-22 08:04 AM

Is there a way to change my ftp on garmin connect? It is still showing 200 and everything else that I use has it around 230-240.

Depends on what the workout is for, but if itís for VO2max training, yes, and despite what others here say, use erg mode of you are doing these on a trainer. It keeps you from going over or faking it and gets you the workout you signed up for.
