I am currently trying to restrain my urge to buy new bits for the incoming Litespeed. I have a couple saddles I can put put on it, plus another 27.2 seatpost; a front wheel which will be a better match for the rear; stems from 110 to 130 to replace the hideous threaded -> threadless adapter and riser stem; an assortment of 'age appropriate' handlebars; and a 175mm Racing T crankset and BB to replace the 170 with the cracked NDS crank. And bar tape. And Campy cable housing kit as well as cables. And an 8sp chain. And bar tape. f

So, no one told you that Ti frames require seat posts, stems, bottle cages, seat post clamps, etc. made from the same element?

Yes, it gets hot, about like here in the San Fernando Valley but it has easy access to the coast. I guess when I mentioned it I was remembering those roads in the hills there.

I briefly looked at some Salsa Ti Flip Off skewers, but then I remembered that Ti skewers can be a little...stretchy. Probably not the best thing for a rider of my mass, even reduced as it is. As far as the rest of it, if Fate dropped a Litespeed Ti quill stem in 120mm in my lap, I'd use it. But I don't see that happening. I did see a Litespeed Ti seatpost for cheap - it was permanently deformed where the seatpost clamp squeezed it. No thanks!

Next you'll be telling me I need to wear a Titanium watch when I ride.

Helmet for sure. Not so much a Ti watch.

That's good. All the watches nowadays are big and clunky. I prefer the elegance of the much smaller men's watches of the 40s and 50s. They don't get clonked on doorjambs quite so much.

I’m into the more modern timepieces. 40 - 42mm is my sweet spot, like my bar width. I have a Ti Speedy and Ti PO, both gifts from my bride.

I bought those socks for me and a $25 gift card for my boss from REI with my rewards money. I was going to buy some gloves but I may never ride again.

The largest wrist watches I have - apart from the Casio I wear to ride - are 37mm, and they feel pretty big. The watches issued to servicemen in WWII were 30mm. I think a lot of guys who want a WWII watch buy them not realizing that 30mm is really small by today's standards.

EDIT: The one I'm currently wearing is a rectangular watch, 25mm across and 35mm lug tip to lug tip.

The only one I have that small is the rectangular Hammy that was my dad’s. The small ones just don’t feel right to me.

I had not heard of Weiss, and that they appear to be manufacturing in the US. Last I knew, only RGM were making movements in America. Before that, you have to go back to 1969, for the last Hamilton movements out of Lancaster, or a few years earlier for the last of Elgin's.

And Butch doesn't say, "Five years up your ass? No thanks."

I had a lite dinner of rice smothered in vegetable soup. And a handful of Hershey's kisses for dessert. I'm feeling fully back to normal now, except for no appetite. No biggie there. I've barely left the hammock for two days.

Having become bored with Autobiography of a Yogi, I've picked up 'Arctic Dreams' by Barry Lopez. A friend gave me a hardbound copy of 'Horizon' a couple years ago. Ir was a life-changing read. This one promises the same.
