Last week I swapped those onto the Litespeed, figuring it should get the best wheels. I've taken it out for 2 rides with them, and it felt slow like an mph or so slower than I'd expect. The other thing is, most wheels, if the bike's on the work stand, the front wheel will turn till the heaviest point is at the bottom. The better the bearings, the longer it will keep going back and forth till it finally stops. These? They don't do that. They just stay however you turn the wheel. They spin okay, but slow down and stop faster than my other wheels.

Well, I did a search, and I read that other owners find that Fulcrum, and other wheels with cartridge bearing hubs, take 2-300 miles for the seals on the bearings to wear in. So far, I have about 150 on these. SO, I guess I'm in for a bit of suboptimal performance for a while. If I swap them for other wheels, I'll just be delaying the time when they spin well, right?

The amount if drag from the seals is miniscule. If I remember right, the amount of seal drag, is the same as the drag from the grease.

I hate cartridge bearing hubs.

I have to say, there is WAY less drama in tri and especially running than cycling.

There is absolutely no drama laying on the couch watching tv.

Also, I still have a Zip drive, a Seagate tape drive, and a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk. None in use now.

I used to use a Seagate tape drive for backups.

And they say cats don't care. Poor Stephen.

My poor old boy also didn't like seeing me fuss with the bike, nor load up my stuff to go to work so long ago it was when only nerds watched the draft.

Benson comes with us. Mostly.

She's currently sleeping off this past week's adventure. Rode in a strange car, explored new pastures, made new friends.

I was looking to get a nice frame pump for the Litespeed, because it is of the age that came with a pump peg on the head tube. I was looking at Zefals, but one thing that popped up was a titanium bodied Silca Impero. I thought Silcas were ungodly expensive! HA!! $400 for a pump. I think it's god's way of telling you you have either too much money, or that you need to up your dose.

Are you postponing it a couple months, so I can get in shape? I'd really like to do it, but sadly I'm not presently in shape to tackle it.

No, would postpone for a day or two.

Mrs datlas relaxed for a bit and we then went downtown and had one of the best dinners we have had in a long times. Win-win!

BTW I considered riding to your area to explore some of the famous office parks, but it’s a bit too far, even for a mileage ***** like me.

Hmmm. "Wizard" is sounding better all the time.

For installation, there are a few quirks. This advice on YouTube was VERY helpful:

That’s the FD he has a similar video for RD.

Reds peed on one of my panniers I had left out after coming back from a trip. He waited until I came home from work, probably so I would notice right away.
