Dang. Wonder if putting it off 'til winter would be a bad idea.

much more snow than Pittsburgh ... maybe twice or three times as much ?

I just applied for a job in Pittsburgh. Dunno if they'll want to pay me enough to move there though.

That's what I'm hoping. The way the medical system is at the moment, I might not be able to get the surgery before winter anyway.

I do admit to having pain so I might not be able to put it off for long. I see the CT ordering doc in two weeks and intend to get his impression from the CT. I'm hoping that he says it's not that bad.

Wordle 5/6 today, typical for me.

I am so bummed about the events of the Vuelta from Tuesday (it's late enough that it's not a spoiler) that I have pretty much lost interest in the race.

Bad Luck seems to be a frequent riding partner of his.

I don't know all the details, and you can PM me if you wish, but based on what you are saying here, I would NOT have surgery.

That said, if you go to a surgeon with an inguinal hernia, it's like going to Midas with a rust spot on your muffler. They are going to pressure you to get a muffler even if the rust won't perforate for years.

I feel bummed, also. Another relatively high profile DNF this morning.

Mads has been fun to watch but Remco doesn't do much for me.

That's what I think, too. My old family doc that I highly respected told me one time that when you go to a surgeon, they cut. That's their job.

Depends on the payment model.

The stage contests are still interesting enough for us to watch. RogliÁ wasn't going to win anyway.

Roglic is a pavement magnet. Like the guy anyway.

Agree on both points. I don't think he is quite as magnetic as Richie Porte but close.

I wasn't even very interested in the race until Roglic looked to be making a contest of it.

I should probably be sick or dead from radon (high radon levels are apparently fairly common in houses with well water ?)

There are folks who are reliable with the forked stick. I was taught by an old man and am able to do it, with practice. Not wells, but water lines and other stuff. It's a difficult concept for the Western mind. But if you take the conscious mind out of the equation, anybody can do it. You just have to put yourself in that space. Like meditation.
When the stick passes over the object of the search, you can't grip it tight enough to prevent it's bending down

Right, if theyíre in an episodic payment model, they wonít cut unless theyíre sure youíll be cheap

cmon - the suspense is killin me ... howzit look ?

what year / color Circuit ?

carbon or aluminum fork an option ?

the OEM steel fork from the 24" frame sounds like a great option if you plan to go the original route - especially if the steerer is a tad long which should allow the stem / bar to be raised a tad (more) if you desire

what drivetrain(s) are you considering ? spread triangle to 130mm to accommodate more contemp options ?

what size tires are you planning to run ? my guess is with the original steel fork 28mm tires should work ... ? ...

I have a Kinesis aluminium fork on a Peloton - the fork appears to be the limiting factor as far as tire size goes ... 28mm tire should fit on the rear with room to spare - but 28mm will be a very tight fit on the front if it will fit

It's a 1989, Candyapple Red. It originally came with a chrome Tange Aero fork, and that's what I'm looking for. As somebody said, it's a threaded fork, so the one from the 24" would have to be cut down and threaded.

My goal is to build it up as close to original as possible, by cannibalizing my current, 22" 1989 Circuit. I've gotten that to KIND OF fit, as I mentioned, with a long seat post and 130mm stem. But it's still too small - the saddle-to-bar drop is about 2 cm too much.

So, I'd be taking the original Sante kit off the 22" and building up the 23" with it.

well, I wonít be able to ride much this week or next so the podium will be up for grabs. Let the games begin.

Not the biggest fan of the late sunrise, and I know it will only get worse. Riding in the dark isnít terrible but the routes I choose to ride usually have me on a bike path at some point. Not only is it pitch black, and kind of creepy the spider webs are the bigger problem. This morning I was completely covered in them. I can start later but that limits my time in the saddle. I want as many outside miles as I can get before Simon is born. I imagine my riding will drop drastically. Perfect timing to prepare for next season.

bampilot06 09-08-22 08:29 AM

Ordered a pair of black bontrager velo something shoes. Originally I was going to go with white. My current white bontrager xxx were ruined from last winter. I had tried cleaning them multiple times and they continued to look horrid. I was going to use the new white shoes only in dry conditions and for racing. My wife was not on board with this. Yesterday she cleaned my shoes and they look brand new, so she approved the order of black shoes to be worn in the winter and in the rain. Pretty stoked.

Because you donít like Pittsburgh or just itíd take a lot to get you to move?

phrantic09 09-08-22 08:34 AM

My oldest kid started middle school this week. Itís done a real number on my ability to ride now that she is up an hour earlier than last year. I normally like to be home before the kids wake up, but that means I need to finish my ride by 6.

As a result- I have ten miles so far this week 😢. I fly to Pittsburgh Sunday and am not home until Wednesday afternoon, so mileage next week isnít looking good either.
