Connecting a tail light to Edelux 2 front light
 

I've been using a dyno hub and Edelux 2 front light for about a year, and like it a lot. I've decided it's time to add a dyno powered tail light.

From what I've read, the Edelux 2 has spade terminals on it that should be used to connect a rear light, and it is not advised to connect a tail light directly to the dynamo. I'm feeling somewhat silly in that I can't find the terminals on the light. Nor can I see any on any photos I've found on-line.

Is it correct that there are terminals on the light? If so, please help me find them!

my understanding is that one of the versions doesn't have provisions for a taillight. I see that is true for the upside-down model, but I don't know about the right-side up model

Does yours have an on-off switch?

I didn't know that there are different versions. I do have a switch, sort of a rotating bezel with off/sense/on. It is not meant for upside down use, i.e. it mounts to the fork crown.

Hey, I think I've sorted it out. There is a hole next to the wire to the hub. The spade connector is invisible deep in the hole.

I kept searching for pictures, and found one from biketouringnews.com that shows the tail light connections. It doesn't mention the connections, but you can see them if you look carefully. In case anyone else is interested, here is a link (that I hope works):

That looks correct and is exactly as my tail light is hooked up to the Edelux on my 3 bikes.
You can get a prefabricated cable, which already has the connectors crimped on and you only need to lengthen and crimp the cable to fit the tail light position.

Funny thing... when I connect the non-coaxial tail light wire to my working Edelux light, powered by a SON hub, the headlight won't light up and I just hear a click-click sound. The tail light won't light up, either. The tail light has a ground path back to the headlight, and resistance is at about 1.7 Ohms. Anyone see this before, maybe something obvious I'm overlooking?

Try reversing the connector.
