cycling downhill

I took off on a ride towards the coast and most of the ride was downhill, at about the fifteen mile mark I knew the trip back would be harder so I turned around but to my surprise it was downhill on the return also and actually took me less time to return anybody ever expereince such a ride?

You are in a house with 4 windows, which all face South, a bear walks by. What color is the Bear?

I want what he’s smoking.

This is why I hate e-bikes.

I’ve had rides where it was uphill both ways but never down. Congratulations.

Uphill AND against the wind.

if he was cycling towards the coast, it’s possible he was going downhill into the wind on the outbound leg, and uphill with the wind on the way back.

Through waist-deep snow also. Like when we were kids walking to school.

How old are you? Once you hit 50, it's all downhill from there.

I remember years ago touring through Vermont, riding alongside a river. All the scenery told my eyes that I was going slightly downhill, but I had to pedal all the time just to keep going. I actually stopped and checked to see if one of my brake calipers was stuck and dragging. Then, I realized that the water in the river was flowing in the opposite direction to my riding - and water doesn't flow uphill.

All this time I've been wondering where my downhills went, and now I finally know. Mark has them.

Opening day of the 2010 Cycle Oregon, we rode from Elgin, OR (2000') to Enterprise (4000') up the Wallawa River. 50 miles, perhaps 25 beside the river. Weird. River was fast flowing, even rapids but it felt like we were going downhill. Even where it was obvious we were going uphill, it was easy. (Amazing wheat fresh legs and a tailwind can do.)

Let me guess, you're riding in Florida?

genejockey 04-15-21 12:07 PM

I've never experienced that, but I have frequently experienced the Omnidirectional Headwind.

rollagain 04-15-21 12:21 PM

Try this one ... but you have to climb it first.

This only works if you say that each of the windows is on a different wall.
