I currently carry both Samsung and Apple. Just as an example. I wanted to use them for an alarm system to wake me up. The Samsung took a few seconds to enter the time and days I wanted the alarm to wake me. No app. Needed. When I tried the IPhone. I had to download an app. Then answer a bunch of questions about how much sleep I get a night, what my normal diet consisted of. Intrusive you say? Ho-ly! I just wanted an alarm clock. Not a doctors exam. Everything about the IPhone is like that, it's too much.

I don't understand. I use my iPhone as an alarm clock. The clock app I use is the standard Apple app already on the phone.

That’s shorts and short sleeves for me

Fun, short ride this AM. Felt a little tired (was about 13 hours fasted) and would have preferred 70s to 42, but I got out and had fun.

Hey indyfabz we are riding to Wolf’s Hollow park, just west of Cochranville. Ever ridden there? It’s a short section of road along the creek, quite lovely.

Today’s route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39042844

Can't say that I have.

Actually, I think I have. Pretty sure that road was part of he Brandywine Century when I did it was back in 1995. There was a local who hated the event. He covered up the marking where we were supposed to bear right to stay on Creek Rd. at Brick Mill Rd. I and the woman I was riding with ended up climbing a ways up Brick Mill before stopping and asking a man doing yardwork who told us of our mistake. My riding companion had bitten off more than she could chew. We didn't finish the ride until late. At the last water stop we were told that there were only 10 people behind us.

I have a clock radio similar to this. It can wake me if I don't automatically wake @ 6:00 or if the cat doesn't walk across my head.
I won it in a drawing in the new car showroom at some promotional thing.

On top of my phone alarms, I have an Echo out in the kitchen that can’t hear me unless I leave my bedroom.

That's exactly what they do. Yes, people could pay to fix them after warranty, but by then they are pushed to buy an upgrade since the old one's performance degrades over time due to software upgrades consuming resources. I have a houseful of iPhones, and have witnessed it first hand. But then again, all cell phone manufacturers do the same thing.

What Is “Planned Obsolescence,” and How Does It Affect My Devices? (howtogeek.com)

Just because I buy for myself frequently (it is, after all a business expense and deductible) doesn't mean that Apple does not design its products with planned obsolescence in mind.

I personally switched from Apple because of a history of having difficulties connecting it to my business systems. The iPhone was not positioned to work with the productivity tools that I wanted to be able to use for my work. Android works better for that.

Interestingly enough I wasn’t even pushing it.

Only annoyance for the day was likely from my planning. I found a 40 mile loop that started about 9 miles from my house.

I was thinking I would end up with around 58 total and I could just loop around a little bit to make the metric. Finishing the loop I was at 45 miles with only 9 left to get home. So I ended up doing a lot more looping around than I had initially planned

Maybe it's just me but I really don't like repeating small loops just for the sake of mileage but I couldn't just get that close to a metric without doing the whole thing:o

I rolled the dice on a pair of 30" waist Levi's. They fit great now, but for how long...

Yup. Clock radio. Atomic clock, so it's kind of fancy.
