It probably had drop bars originally. The catalog pages show it as a drop bar club-style bike. It has an old set of North Road style bars on it, which I prefer over drop bars anyway. The condition matches the rest of the bike; probably converted a long time ago by the original owner.

I had one of those 'Bike Bug motors on an old Columbia three speed back in the 70's, it worked well but having the motor in front meant you got all the exhaust smoke and fumes in the face. Not to mention it sounded like a cheap weed trimmer running wide open.

How about a German one? Here's a Lloyd with a Sachs hub and a nice cradle frame.

That's no later than 1949, but absolutely is overpriced. My '52 was in better overall shape, wasn't rod brake, men's frame, came from NH, and was all of $75 on eBay.

I got the 1938 Maclean Featherweight in rideable condition over the weekend. Kind of a mix of various era parts. Rear hub is an alloy shell AW dated 1953. Wheels are 597mm/EA1 w/ Weinmann rims originally from a '48 Claud Butler. Titan steel stem and GB Maes bars, 1970s Weinmann levers and brakes. Saddle is a rubber Dunlop model that's reasonably comfortable but weighs a ton and will probably get replaced by a Brooks. I'm thinking this will be my Lake Pepin 3-speed ride bike.

That's really sharp. What brand and size of fenders are those? I'm looking at options for the 1953 Lenton fenders and fenders sized for EA1 specifically are hard to locate. I wonder if regular 650A or even 27 inch could be made to work.

Those look like Bluemels Club Special to me. They're plastic so could probably be bent to fit pretty easily.

Bluemels Lightweights, a bit wider than the Club Specials. [MENTION=38859]SirMike1983[/MENTION], these were probably made for 27” wheels, but they do fit the curve of these smaller wheels without undo bending. Kind of a classic English fender line!

Nlerner, that MacLeans is awesome! You must be thrilled. It looks like it has a large sprocket on the AW. I love the Russ-style forks. Titan steel stem is a nice touch.

Interesting about the 27 inch fenders - something I need to check out when buying fenders for the Lenton I'm working on.

This well-used Raleigh is posted locally, the transfer is one I don't think I've seen before. I'm always on the lookout for green frames in tatty shape, so posted for info. Could this be a Lenton Sports?

You may be right. Thanks for the chuckle. I'm going to try and get it. If it works out I'll clean up the rust, do some kind of clear coat, and transfer my commuter parts.

I'm guessing a mid/late 50's Sports based on the non-detachable chain ring and metal mudguards. Could be plain gauge 531 or Hi-ten
