We have visited the local urgent care for my daughter's injuries so many times over the years that I'm a tiny bit surprised no one has raised a question about it. I always make sure to let my daughter tell the story of what happened.
When our daughter was about 4 months old, I had to go to the ER with a kidney stone in the middle of the night. But, we were in a Jeep and had to go down a very rough road that was under construction. For whatever reason, when we got to the parking lot I suddenly felt better as if the little biatch had passed. Wife said we were going in any way. I grabbed the kid and we strolled in. Immediately upon entering, we were hit with a barrage of questions about what happened to the little girl. Didn't take long to see where the questions were leading. I stopped the people mid-sentence, and said, "Look, the kid is fine. I'm having a kidney stone attack." |

And furthermore......
I went ahead and wrapped the bars on the Ironman last night. Still trying to come up with a name for it. Obvious ones are "Tony" (like Tony Stark), or "Starkers", but what occurred to me was something based on being Number 9: Deadman, as in "Turn Me On Deadman". Now, how many understand why? |

I think I have everything either ordered or in-hand for the Habanero rebuild this winter. The only item I am unsure about is the handlebars. I love the current bars, they are Ritchey WCS Aluminum. My plan is to inspect carefully after unwrapping for signs of oxidation. Assuming they look ok, is there any reason to buy new bars when the 12 year old ones look and work fine?
I switched to the R3SL and immediately thought the Enve compacts were too wide. First time I've ever felt that. Too bad because sizing down would have saved me a few grams back then. |

Yeah, all those busted fingers....
One of my sisters has been accident prone all her life - things like closing her finger in a car door, that kind of thing. The guy she married became a Personal Injury lawyer. We figure it was a match made in heaven. My kid has fractured fingers 6 times. Only 3 were on a softball field, however. 2 were PE basketball. 1 was getting squished between her knee and the ground on a playground. Her 2 concussions were definitely softball, however. |
Waiting on a hiking stove to come from the US. It's being shipped by USPS. On 4th Oct USPS said it was suspending mail to NZ. My last tracking update was that it was processed through a international distribution centre on 28th Sep. I'm now not sure if my stove is stuck in a warehouse in the US, has been put on a ship or plane or is being processed here. :notamused: I remain hopeful I may receive the stove before Christmas. At least I have four other hiking stoves to choose from so it's not super urgent.

Oh,, yeah - so on top of needing a root canal, Mrs. GJ tripped while working on the front yard and faceplanted, so now she's got a black eye. I worried the dentist would report me to the cops, but Mrs. GJ reassured me that she'd tell them she'd walked into a door.
