Ah, well. Something to shoot for, I suppose - less suckitude in my new category.

This drafting thing you talk about? It becomes important. You'll get pulled along, but you absolutely have to be very attentive. I'm sure Zwift and road are alike there.

They were never really that young. None of us were.

(softball over home there) The Saturn's battery has lasted a long time... which only makes it likelier, though I'll be curious what happens.

The factory battery in our Fit lasted less than 4 years. I had a Chevy truck back in the 80s, whose International battery lasted over 15 years. I bought the truck from my uncle's estate.

I bet that's a never-ending discussion.

With Kona slots on the line? It's like P&R.

One of the things I've had to get used to with my return to Trainerville (and the Tacx virtual rides exclusively) is the need to hammer downhill into tight corners to get the best workout. Really want to coast into them... but no, in Trainerville you can be spinning 100RPM and 40MPH on a downhill switchback. It's still a little unnerving.

I failed to mention how much I'm enjoying the ride on Gatorskins. The bike is full SP, so that likely dampens some of the (stated)harshness.

Crap. That's what I've BEEN doing!!!

EDIT: I think the biggest difference between Zwift races and races IRL is there are no curves in Zwift, no places where you stop pedaling to take a curve, for example. Also, no slow starts. It's full gas from the gun.

What are good bibs these days, say up to $150?

I have PIs because that is pretty much what you can get around here, but they are just not that good for 3 hour+ rides. Not sure I can drop the hammer on $200 bibs.

My experience is that bibs are almost as much a person-by-person thing as saddles. I found that Louis Garneau FitSensor bibs in XL fit me and do what I need a bib to do, and every time I try something else, I'm disappointed. I got some Performance "Ultra" bibs that fit, but as I rode the legs kept crawling up into the crotch, and the pad is too thick over the sit bones so it actually localizes pressure there. I got some Castellis that fit once I got down to 200 (XXLs), but they don't come up far enough in front. I got some from The Black Bibs, which are so slippery I spend the whole ride sliding my butt back into place on the saddle.

So, I now have enough of the LGs for a week's riding without wearing any twice. And I'm disinclined to try another brand.

It's too soon to declare "Mission Accomplished" but it started up nicely with new battery in it this afternoon after work.

I have not tried the latest generation Assos S9 series, but I actually prefer the pad/chamois in the S5 (the blue one) more than the S7 (the purple one).

Yeah, it really depends. The chamois is going to be a huge part of the equation, and preference is going to play in to that a lot: thick/thin, cushy/dense, fore/aft placement, etc. After the chamois, you get in to cut, level of compression, style of leg gripper (I really don't like elastic band grippers anymore - give me a wide cuff of direct-applied grippy dots, please), etc.

I don't think that I've bought anything other than Twin Six (Voler) and Rapha in the last five years, so I don't really know what's going on outside of those two. Within those brands, and under $150. I like the T6 Standard Race Bibs and the Rapha Core Cargo bibs. The T6 have a little bit of a thinner pad, whereas the Rapha is a little thicker, but it's not dense. For 20 or 30 bucks less, Rapha also has the regular Core Bibs, without the thigh pockets, but I really like the pockets and Cargo version seem, to me, to have slightly higher compression, which I like. The Cargo version are also a little warmer, which may not appeal to someone in TX, though.

If I were in the market, I'd be really tempted to try out those previously mentioned Assos.

My rule, when I lived in the frozen tundra, was that as soon as the car hesitated to start, I replaced the battery. One time trying (successfully, but still) to convince the old Civic to start in the cold was enough. If the GX does that it'll get an Optima Redtop: I was going to have AG get one but they don't make one for the Fit.

There's a P&R joke here but I probably shouldn't.

Lake has some lace-up shoes in my size on closeout... I've been sorely tempted.

I'm tempted by the deal on the Half Shorts. I should see if I can get any pro-deals first, I have a feeling the only pro-deals I can get are on PI and LG though.

thats huge, good job. How did you beat the penvelo times, I thought they went both ways on Cañada. Can’t find those penvelo dudes they should be out tonight… You said you have a bunch of bikes, do you have an old road bike that you want to get rid of? I’d take it for like $200. My only road bike is this aluminum specialized with a relaxed geometry and a triple up front, it has been annoying. IDK what I don’t like about it, maybe that its rather twitchy? But yeah I need a new road bike preferably an old steel thing. This specialized gives me bad vibes but once I fix it ill have to pull it out of the stable because it’s my fastest race bike

It was wind-assisted, so a lot less impressive. Did you ride Sunday, there was a monster tailwind heading North!

No bikes I'm looking to get rid of, sorry. What happened to that Bianchi you were riding?

That was the Northbound part of the PenVelo TT route. But I'm not in any danger of beating any PV rider's time:

Not even in the top 10% out of 32,000 riders.
