PIC Heavy: I thought I would share some GREAT news and a few recent finds

A few days ago i was hunting/shopping at a few garage sales and local fleas. I was in the process of rummaging through some stuff when my phone rang, it was my daughter informing me that she was accepted to a number of medical schools and that she still had a number she hadn't heard from yet. GREAT!!!!!!
That really made my day and at a recent stop, before I heard the news I did manage to find a few things along the way:
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b4eccce70c.jpg
Campy HF hubs.....
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...579ba0cda2.jpg
3TT stem
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4bddd47ec3.jpg
Campy crank, with a lot of life left in it
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e85d9442e5.jpg
Campagnolo RD
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5e584d8e35.jpg
Campagnolo bar ends
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...235526107c.jpg
The owner said that he switched out the bars, brakes and saddle because his wife want safety brakes and a softer saddle, but believes they are still some where in the garage.

At the flea I found this box of Regina cogs.

Not all there and low end BUT NOS
I am really ecstatic about my daughter's acceptance to med school...it's been hard, and will continue to be.....but as they say life's journey begins one step at a time....this is the big first step.....sorry about being a proud father.
Best, Ben

I have a brother that is a doctor, I remember when he was accepted, we were all over the moon. Congrats!

Also, that's a way cool bike and box o goodies there!

icemilkcoffee 03-02-22 04:16 PM

So... the only logical thing to do here is to fix this step-thru up pronto and give it to your daughter to ride at med. school!

Darth Lefty 03-02-22 04:39 PM

Congrats to her!

A few years ago I sent my Paramount's Regina Extra Oro to Pastor Bob and he couldn't do much with it. He replaced the middle 20t cog with something not-gold but less-worn, but the bearing adjustment was still out of whack and he didn't have the right spacers or something to adjust it.

Dig those price adjustments!

Congratulations on your daughters acceptance to Med School. I know this could be interpreted the wrong way, and you want her to have the best, however, that Modia is (way) too nice for a campus bike. I know you can swap out the tubulars for a set of clinchers and you may have the parts. But that could be heartbreaking to get stolen. And that is making some assumptions. My daughter could care less about bicycles. I don't know how that works.

Nice find on both the bike and suitcase of Regina cogs.

Ben,
My heartfelt best thoughts are with you after getting the great news! I'm more excited about this news than any of the other things going on in my life. Overjoyed is likely not the word for your feelings now, but enjoy every moment of it! Smiles, Dave Stoller

Congratulations to you and your daughter!

Also really nice find on the Mixte and the cog box.

Kabuki12 03-02-22 07:59 PM

Congratulations to you and the family. My doctor has his daughter in Med school and he just glows with excitement when tells us about her, nothing wrong with being a proud parent. My daughter is very close to my heart and I am very proud of her accomplishments.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a proper ladies Mondia Special and that one looks like it has most of the original bits and the box of cogs is cool. Nice find!

USAZorro 03-02-22 09:58 PM

Congratulations all the way around. :thumb: You're going to remember this day for many, many years.

I-Want-That-Box!

Very very cool!!!:thumb::hug::)

repechage 03-03-22 12:01 AM

Best news would be she gets a free ride on tuition, but multiple acceptances are impressive.

I am impressed that the Campagnolo NR can shift that freewheel

BTinNYC 03-03-22 05:44 AM

Congrats to your daughter!!

I know there's basically a decade of diligent hard work behind those letters of acceptance. What an accomplishment!

xiaoman1 03-03-22 09:13 AM

Thanks to Everyone for taking the time to read the post, sending congratulations to Jade. Yes, it has been quite a journey for our family and especially for her.
When she was very, very young, I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and her answer really surprised me. She said that wanted to be a doctor.....I didn't even know that she understood what that meant or if she really knew what doctors do.....since that day she never wavered from her dream.
Jade played with dolls, drew and painted, but also collected bugs and explored the world through a secondhand microscope and so on.
As many of you have said there are many more years of hard work ahead, but I know she is up to it...I feel that Rebecca and I can finally take a rest knowing that we have done our best helping her one step closer to her dream.
I guess it has always been in her hands, but now we feel a sense of relief that this chapter is now over and a new one is beginning.
My Best to All of You for your kind thoughts and wishes.

There is no greater joy than seeing your child flourish. That's wonderful news, I am very happy for you.

spudly 03-03-22 07:27 PM

Congrats! You and your wife must have done so many things right to put your daughter in a position to attend med school.

jdawginsc 03-03-22 07:39 PM

Congratulations Ben and especially Jade!

Oh...and I love those 3ttt stems.

Spaghetti Legs 03-03-22 09:13 PM

Congrats Ben! Your daughter will, of course, have some challenging times ahead, but truly, the hardest part (for most) is getting an acceptance, so well done!

jjhabbs 03-03-22 09:25 PM

Wow,
Great find!!
