Hahaha! I've thought about riding out there from Flag.

But nope. Vistancia. https://goo.gl/maps/rcaXQvErMju9AmaR6

File Transfer Protocol.

Remember way back when that was how we transferred files up and down to the mainframe? I used FTP a lot.

It upset me a little when my internet provider revoked our file storage as that’s where I stored all of my pics and some files back before the current messed up storage solutions.

Probably not. If I remember, I'll look at one the next time I'm at the shop.

I think the last time I used ftp was 10 or 12 years ago. We use Dropbox for file sharing these days.

That seems about right.

I FTPed within the last couple months. There used to be an add-on in Firefox that I used, but I had to download another one because they stopped.

10 miles from home, and I’ve never seen that.

Do you also perform batch processing?

That's what the computer is for.

I had something on my website that wouldn't update automatically, so I had to upload the newer version manually. #KnowJustEnoughToBeDangerous

Why do I find File Transfer Protocol more satisfying than Functional Threshold Power? :foo:

Hurts a lot less after a few minutes.

I think it's because I've been there and have the scars. Different approach to cycling in my twilight years. :D

I think we still use it, it’s just hidden behind in slick user interfaces.

12 speed is my favorite configuration in road bikes. Six speed freewheels and cassettes are decidedly not easy to find anymore.

I had a sweet Nishiki hardtail with a 6 speed freewheel. The bearings are inboard so the axle isn't supported as well as a freehub. I used to bend axles so often that I kept an axle at home. Eventually the frame broke at the dropout/chainstay area. I really liked that frame.

Today I drove to an area where there are a lot of fireroads for mountain biking. I did a 20 mile out and back and it was glorious. On a long climb a skinny kid on an e-bike passed me and he called me "sir".

I have a five speed corncob here, that I've been awaiting the right application for. Whatever I have back there, I never use them all, unless I'm in the US, where they have actual hills. What makes friction shifting preferable to indexed? Same question/same answer.

Edit: Actually, the six speed rear more easily fits into 126 mm dropout spacing as well.

I see.

Understanding the irony re: music from yesterday, I quite like the cycling technology from when I started. Ten speeds on the back, English threading, rim brakes, and everything simple. Except of course, I'd have those feelings about quill stems and nine speeds if I'd started a few years sooner, or pressfit bottom brackets if I'd started a few years later. It's all an illusion.

Indeed

A year or so ago, I asked my (3) subordinates that I needed their TPS reports by the end of the week. I had one laughter and two empty looks. Needless to say, we have two different workers now and the one laughed is now my second in command. :innocent:

+1

I'm 6'2" 185lbs, and I want to drop 5-10lbs.

I started with quill stems, downtube shifters, and toe clips. I do not have nostalgia for them.

I guess the other two didn't get the memo.
