Update the tape and ride as is. It is so clean and has all the key attributes of a commuter. Ditch the chicken brakes, or not. What a terrific find!

I defintely will. I got the message that this is a Diamant frame build in the German Democratic Republic for western Germany under a different name cause of legal issues by MIFA-Werke between 1976-1978. So I was really lucky because it is pretty much all original parts. Its a perfect match to my old GRD scooter Simson Schwalbe.

I put new tape on and went for a perfect ride. The bike runs very smooth so it's going to be a nice commuter. I have to replace the Lightbulb with a LED to get some light out of it.

1983 Piaggio Bianchi, Japanese, Canadian spec. I found it in the garbage in an alley in Vancouver in 2006 and built it into a sort of upright roadster/3 speed.

My 1981 Colnago Super that I'm working on.

That Bianchi you found in some alley garbage is a real beauty!

Thanks, I believe it’s a Bianchi Special but the Canadian ones I’ve seen had the whole fork chromed. It was missing just the back wheel and had been sitting with the chainring in a puddle for some time. I put a mid sized chain ring up front on the smaller, and got a 54t which I filed the teeth off of for a chain guard. I laced a Sturmey Archer AW hub to a 700c wheel, Put MKS Touring pedals on it, and the upright bars and pulls, and the Pluetcher rack.. The grips are original from a 60’s I think BSA. The fenders are stainless Velo Orange. Since this pic, having got the Colnago as a dedicated “fast bike”, I swapped out the 17t rear cog for a 21t, added a rear fender reflector, and I’ve put a Brooks B66 spring seat, and a vintage Greenfield kickstand on it to fully lean into its cruiser status.

Well, I live in Vancouver, so I will keep my eyes open for any more Bianchi's lying around in the alleys! Bike looks awesome, and great job on the restoration!

Can't find too much information about this model of technium. It's my second bike and its pretty fun to ride. Thoughts?

I have had couple 6000 series Techiniums as personal riders road and MTB and will say there very good bikes with really nice fit finish and paint for mass produced bike and there pretty much no cases of these bonded frames failing.

I am just catching up. Love those blue bikes. It also tells me I need to finish at least one of my projects and post it.
