I'm sorry to hear that about your friend.
The slow failing of the human body and mind is hard to watch. We've been witness to the creeping decline of my step-father as vascular dementia ground away at the sharpness of one of the most interesting and intelligent humans I've ever known. Yesterday afternoon, the last of the flickering lights went out, and he passed peacefully. We are currently wading through a mixture of anguish and relief left in the wake of his exit. |

That's a shame.

Just bought a pretty nice pair of cheap speakers off someone in the neighborhood. Price was right, but a tweeter is blown and the OEM one is DCd. The part everyone uses to replace it is only 40 bucks a pair, delivered, but it also needs a series resistor to match the impedance to the OEM spec. The seller agreed not to cash the check and will give me whatever I want back, but this is turning into a project. It is sort of nice to work on something other than bikes and the boat for a change.

"MoAlpha" on the front of a speaker cabinet has a pretty nice sound to it. You could name each as MoAlpha Alpha, MoAlpha Beta, MoAlpha Gamma, MoAlpha Delta, etc.

Ever heard a MoAlpha buoy moaning out in the fog? I'd rather listen to something else.

This happened yesterday. Someone casually left a bud light platinum bottle on the the bike path. I knew the debris field was there but a car happened to come on me so I couldn’t avoid it. Made it another 5 miles or so before I started to feel the squishy ness. Bought a new tire and went to put my wheel back on, had a little bit of a scare. The axle wouldn’t tighten. I must have spent 30 mins trying to get it to tighten. I called trek and they told me to squeeze the chain stay together and then tighten. Still nothing. I took the wheel off and still couldn’t get the axle to tighten. Ran it to the shop in great haste. Manager ran the axle through backwards and just like that it was fixed. Still not sure what the problem was, but my days of dwelling on it are over. |

It is sort of nice to work on something other than bikes and the boat for a change. That was always plan C, it might be time to move up to plan B - my memoirs. |

Palindrome of the day

I'm not going to post a photo because it's sort of yucky, but last night I found what appeared to be the partial carcass of a young possum on top of my back deck wall. I have seen some young ones walking around in the alley and on deck walls and fences this fall. Thinking it was left behind by a hawk or crow.

She told me later that the guy at the shop futzed with it for a couple minutes and screwed it right back in. I felt like an idiot, again. |
