42 with 1200’. Weather was perfect in the mid-70s. Today we are getting much needed rain - hurrah!

Just 9 miles early this morning on some pretty paths.

I was able to talk not only my wife into going, but also my son, my oldest daughter, and my grandson (in a trailer). Some of these people hardly ever ride with me. It was a fun family ride this morning.

Troul 08-05-23 11:24 AM

97 miles. Great temps, poor air quality.

I got in 63.5 with a bunch of bridge repeats to get 1500 ft of elevation gain. The humidity was heavy today.

Still have the smoke from Canada coming down?

I haven't kept up with the Canadian wildfires but its probably the cause.

Tell me you live in Florida without telling me you live in Florida.

Cool 88 F today but still humid. 23 mile trail ride. Took an extra Headsweats du rag and needed it. I need a helmet with better ventilation. Still that may not help keep the sweat off my glasses. More people out riding. No pictures but passed four box turtles on the trail.

LMAO.... yep, and here is the kicker. It was really 2 different bridges. I left from the house and rode to downtown, was planning to do some down there, but that bridge is very narrow distance wise, so the incline is 6 to 8% for the front half on both sides, and then 5% to the top, and I wanted to do some longer drags, so I rode out toward the beach and finished up doing the repeats on that bridge. Much longer and about 4.5% plus it does not have the swirling wind effect like the downtown bridge gets with the wind weaving around the buildings. Can't get anymore Florida than that.

Rolled 27, right into an atmospheric river. It was kinda expected & the rewax was about due. Pure Michigan.

I brought the sun up both days this weekend. I did a 35 mile ride yesterday and today. Yesterday I felt incredible. Today was a completely different story. I just didn't have any gas. Conditions were a mirror image. Who the heck knows why this happens?

34-spot yday. 30-spot today. both coastal and in semi-muggy weather in the same area. rained on three separate times today but consisted of big, summertime raindrops vs a cloudburst/thunderstorm. the rain unlocked the native flora and the smells were amazing. cruised very slowly for approx 15 miles taking those smells in.

arupaka 08-09-23 03:02 AM

about 50 miles yesterday, most of it at full throttle. need to get me a cycle computer eh

Sierra_rider 08-09-23 03:10 PM

Nailed the golden ratio on this morning's ride...51 miles and 5100' elevation gain. So far for the week...16 miles of hike-a-bike on the gravel bike yesterday evening and a 38 mile road ride the day before. Even briefly recaptured a Strava KOM on Monday's ride...but lost it again on Tuesday. I'm battling with a local kid over supremacy on a short, not very popular climb lol.

How far did I ride WHAT??

Does riding my lawn mower over my 2 acres and my little old lady neighbors' 1.5 acres count??

Congrats on the ratio and win and loss. Very nice ride. Are those 50s or 60s?

rsbob 08-09-23 10:08 PM

Quick day. 20 miles with 1500’. Was surprised by a 16% pitch, which made the 12% and < easy(er). No pic day - had to hustle to dinner date.

Hey Sierra, are those 50s or 60s?

Thanks...I try to not take the Strava thing too seriously, but we've turned this into a friendly competition. He's only got a second on me and I know I've got a bit more in the tank. We're actually planning on meeting up for a ride next week, it's always cool to make new local riding friends. I live in a pretty popular cycling area, but very few of the cyclists are actually locals...there are only a handful of us that are riding these roads on a daily basis.

These are 50s, I think the frame makes them look deeper than they actually are. As deep as they are, they were noticeably lighter than the alloy DT Swiss wheels that came stock on this bike. I mostly like them, but they can be a bit of a handful on some of the higher-speed descents when the winds pick up.

I have the same in 60s and regret going so deep. When the wind is gusty I will swap out my front for a 30 and that helps. Wish they offered single wheels rather than sets. If I had it to do over again, probably would have gone with 45s, but on calm days I can really feel the 60 difference.

It’s cool about your friendly rivalry. I have met some good people on Strava and ride with them occasionally Smack talk is great fun. As an older guy, I am trying to get as many fastest segment times for the 65-70 group. Luckily I have a couple of years before I age-out.

Your climbs are epic. Keep it up.
