Track Worlds Berlin

It's an Olympic year and everyone's out for blood.

The Danish men's TP team sets a new WR with a shockingly fast 3.46.

The US women's TP team qualifies 1st with a new NR of 4.11. Valente is riding every endurance event.

Filippo Ganna hints that he can ride sub-4 in the IP.

Should be a hell of a week!

Surprise ride was the french

Dutch men's team new TS WR at 41.275, that's insane. And I hear the track is not particularly fast. They were a full second up on the next best team (GB). All are former BMX riders, I believe. Just wow.

Danish TP team sets another WR in the TP, taking a few tenths off their time from qualifiers. Bad timing for Italy and New Zealand - in the first round they both rode times that would have been WRs had the Danish not done it in quals.

I have been so sick, I haven’t been really able to do much tv watching. On demand is my friend

Baby Puke 02-26-20 06:26 PM

On the evidence of the Australian team's rides, it seems that Zipp's claim that the 808 was faster than a front disc was just marketing talk after all.

Also GB sprinters are not using the weird new bike. Huh.

SynergyPro 02-27-20 01:12 AM

I was predicting no world records, only really good times... bad weather, not really fast track.

well, proven wrong on the first day.
also Denmark on relative normal equipment.
no custom cockpit, regular bike, comete disc (as far I could tell). Got told Dan Bigham was working with them since the last World Cup. So probably with equipment they can still get some time off the new WR.

I'm over here picking my jaw off the floor at Denmark's men's team riding a 3.44 TP. They broke the World Record each ride.
And in the women's, Germany made the Gold round with a very fast 4.11 - that will put the US under pressure, and the World Record too. Not entirely sure how they lopped 4 seconds off of their qualifying time, but there you have it.

oops, only glanced at the results quickly and didn't realize that Germany made the Bronze final, not the Gold.

Rainbows for the US ladies! Rockin the decade old Felt bikes vs. GB.

Nope, they're on the new-as-of-2016 Felt TA FRD.

Really interesting men's keirin - Kazak Sergey Ponomaryov surfed through to the finals by pouncing on an amazing move in the semis by Yuta Wakimoto - I remember watching him race a couple years ago at TTown and loved his long-range moves in the keirins. But Wakimoto rode Ponomaryov right off his wheel. Interesting B and A finals, too. Biggest Gear award goes to Yudai Nitta - I don't know what he's on but I don't think I've ever seen him get over 110rpm or so.

Pretty excited for the women's omnium - Wild looks super strong from her ride in the scratch; Valente is so consistent but a little conservative at times - it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Big congrats to Lambo for his silver in the IP. Sounds like he's stepping away from track for now, but hopefully not for good.

Denmark's 3:44 final ride is up on YouTube. It is...insanely fast.

Are the flying 200 videos posted anywhere?

ruudlaff 03-03-20 02:15 AM

If you get them, watch Lavreysen's windup...he's out of the saddle a full lap before most folk are. Gotta get that dinner plate rollin

Baby Puke 03-03-20 05:05 AM

Dutch sprinters looking unbeatable for the Olympics. Brits usually pull something out but I don't really see that happening this cycle.

2500W 03-03-20 07:21 AM

200m flying results:
Harrie Lavreisen - 9.253 - probably the new sea-level world record
Jeffrey Hoogland - 9.322
Mateusz Rudyk - 9.434
Denis Dmitriev - 9.522
Azizulhasni Awang - 9.548
Nicholas Paul - 9.556 after 9.100 in Cochabamba (2600m) of Septelber 2019
.......
In 2016, only Kenny seemed to hit 9.5s at sea level.

New Koga Kinsei features a trail of some 52-53mm (74 degree HT, 42mm rake). Why Dutch made this change?
