Did a half dollar and 2200’ climbing and dropped 3-4 lbs in water weight. It was warm by PNW standards. The most amazing thing was riding for a time with an 80 year old who was doing between 17 and 18 MPH. The guy does 17% grade climbs and 30-50 mile rides at a similar pace as with me. He was the most phenomenally in shape 80 year old I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Great guy.

This time of year, you’d better be ready to really bring it, if you are going to ride our MKT Trail out to the river in late evening. Horseflies lurk over and around the trail, waiting to pursue.

I set two personal best times on that route last week, and the first one I credit to fleeing the horsefly menace.

Got in a 40 mile ride on my Poprad. I am now 245 short of a 1,000 mile June.

I rode 41 miles this afternoon. Great weather today. Sunny and about 75ish.

Troul 06-25-22 11:18 AM

102 miles.

22.9 and about 800 feet looping through Discovery Park, Smith Cove Park and Myrtle Edwards Park before climbing up to Seattle Center.

Some of the views today. Boeing planes look rather small mounted on rail cars. Cruise ship and one just arrived. Mt Rainier looking very clear and white on the first of what will be our hottest days of the year. The Space Needle and Climate Pledge Arena at Seattle Center. Controversial sculpture/fountain near the Olympic Sculpture Park.

About 10 miles.

VegasJen 06-25-22 04:55 PM

I did 28.5 today in just a tick over 90 minutes. Definitely one of my fastest paces. And that includes my routine incline route. That's a six mile stretch (10km) that climes about 760 feet (210m), or roughly, 120ft/mile (20m/km). The really rough part is that it's an incline the entire way. There are no dips, or even level spots, for the entire six miles.

Lucky you. It was 88 here before I even started. But I actually feel a little lucky that I can still bike this far into June. The next two months are going to be pretty hot, even early in the mornings. In July and August it's not uncommon for us to have overnight low temps above 90*.

but how about the humidity % ? Most days in the 60+ the air could be cut with scissors.

That is the one thing we have going for us. Local news says current humidity is 10%. I'm surprised it's that high!

Unfortunately, we seem to be trying to match your temps. I was home from my ride by 10:30am or so.

Was hoping to go out there today since the temps are ideal, wind is less than 2mph, & it being Sunday.... but the rain came & drowned out that idea. I could still try for a late ride, but I don't like how busy the roads tend to get.

AlgarveCycling 06-26-22 08:21 AM

152km (94mi), 1581m (5187ft), 29km/h (18mph) ave. today.

Yesterday was 103km (64mi), 801m (2627ft), 32.2km/h (20mph) ave so a pretty nice solo riding weekend - I decided to go alone and avoided the Groups rides. Nice to just be in your own thoughts for awhile.

Caps off a 541km (336mi) 4909m (16105ft) week.

Tough one today. Hot and humid (36 degrees with humidity making it feel close to 50), sunny, and windy. First half wasn't too bad as the roads had good shade and it was early enough in the morning that it wasn't too hot, but second half was a lot less shaded and the sun was a lot more intense.
