Pics of fast bikes with triples?
Post pics of your fast bikes with triple setups! (Ok- any bike can be fast, just pedal harder i know, but i was meaning road machines)
or if any of you recall a similar thread, point me to it —. I need some inspiration for a new winter build framesets in question are a Litespeed Classic, Marin Limited road model, Paramount PDG OS “stars n stripes” or a Vianelli Columbus SL frame- I can only build one i was cleaning out my storage area yesterday and found a very nice condition Campagnolo 8 speed ergopower Racing T triple setup - crank, rdr, fdr, shifters, brakes, seatpost — everything but wheels i am contemplating using it as i have my choice of 4 different bikes to build/finish and i am trying to decide which one to build but would like to see some more pics of some racy bikes with triples. (I have several nice conventional double racing groupsets as well, but the Racing T setup is so pretty thanks in advance |

Giovanni Battaglin won the 1981 Giro on this bike. You don't get much faster than that... |

I like to think this would be fast - if only it had a different motor. |
You just described 2/3 of @Andy_K's fleet.

So far, none of the pictured bikes are moving. Kind of the opposite of fast. Maybe if you threw them off a cliff?

Hmmm... I only have two triples right now, both Lemonds and only one sorta old.

If we are posting Pro-5-Vis triples:
http://i.imgur.com/k2RP3Ih.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KFYGi2M.jpg It may or may not be a little slower with a 23L seatbag and two bottles of water: :D It's slightly older twin came with this Stronglight crankset: http://i.imgur.com/xYYecjH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/QhECt9O.jpg But mine probably came with this very sexy Stronglight 107 triple: http://i.imgur.com/0inLMXF.jpg |

As pretty as anything Campy makes! (In my eyes at least) - Now have to scrounge up the required campy cable set , i’ll never make the mistake of using a genericshifter cable set again |
I have a black Turbo I'm building up at the moment. Not all of the parts have shown up yet. It will be the opposite of the shiny Turbo. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...78edfd7718.jpg

I really see compact doubles as far more useful than a triple, particularly with a long cage RD so that your small front and large rear cogs are about the same number of teeth. And no need to find a longer BB spindle and a FD that can handle the three rings. I actually just removed a triple from one of the few bikes in my fleet that had one, and I was surprised to see it was a triple because it’s been years since I’ve had a need to shift into that small ring!

Cannot find a pic of this happening, but in other research i have been doing on this (triple chainsets used at the highest level of the sport) it is said that Indurain used them on a few occasions as well, including in the TdF!
very cool. 25years ago, Big Mig was a Fred , like me! 😂😂😂. |
Sacrilege! An NDS shot of a Lemond with RSX 50-40-30 and a 12-28 rear. Love this bike.

with todays 11 and 12 speed groups, I completely agree, but i can also see how it would greatly increase the utility of an older 8 speed setup.

1990 Diamondback Interval; Tange Champion No.2 frame and fork; Microshift R9 3 X 9 drivetrain with CODA triple. It's getting a makeover this year to tone it down a bit. OK, tone it down a LOT, it got old very quickly. Wheels and bottle cages are getting swapped out for sure, probably black out the pump and a different seatpost. Love the ride though.

My 1990 Concorde.came with Athena 42/52 x 12-26 . Now that I'm 74, can't push those gears. Been piecing together a triple with 52/42/28 x 12-32. Not much I can't climb, now. |
