Flaunt your bike with oversized steel tubing
As there seems to be some interest in this - why not a dedicated thread!?
This thread wellcomes any bike with a frame made out of oversized steel tubing. MAX, Minimax, Excel, EL OS, Oria or any other make or model tubing in larger than classic dimensions. Merckx Corsa Extra in MAX https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4301/...bfae518e_b.jpg Masi 3Volumetrica/Milano 314 in Excel tubing https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4195/...e1a56f10_b.jpg Merckx MX Leader in MXL (early one - no seat stay caps) https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2945/...e6425ab0_b.jpg |
Dang, If I had one with OS tubing, it would be Masi's 3V Volumetrica.....
But so far, no luck finding that bike in the right size, color, condition.......and price.... |
Once again I can't post photos from the mobile site. I wanted to post my 92 Paramount PDG 7.
It's frustrating when a site pretends everything functions correctly. Pretending is easy and fun! |
Are you using the mobile option?

1995 Carrera - Columbus EL with "Carrera" on the sticker, so I think it is a variant of OS. different tube diameters than my EL Ciöcc. Ovalized at the bottom bracket. It's on my list of "take to my grave" bikes.

MXL with a colour code Merckx called "TAL". I hated it when I got it and planned a repaint. But it is in perfect shape and I have sort of got used to it by now - a lot of years later. Will probably get the 10V Record treatment.

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ca3ebba2e.jpeg My first build, 1992 Paramount series 5, sourced a nos Shimano 105 group, Campy Omicron rims, 7 speed free hub. Paint scheme has not grown on me, and frame is a bit small, probably the first in the fleet to go. Great ride regardless |

Schwinn called this "1-1/8" tubing". Does that count? :innocent:

I sold this to a friend about a year ago to make room for a dedicated touring bike. It was a great bike

I do have a lot of steel bikes (about 30 and of which at least 17-18 are ready to use) and/but If someone twisted my arm really hard and I had to choose only one bike to use a Merckx MX Leader would be my choice. There are others that are more important to me and/or are better looking - but this one would be my choice if I had to loose the rest.
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/850/4...c7e68911_k.jpg Today it has 10V down tube shifters but this pic with 10v bar end is a bit better. |
