Noisy valve stem on carbon wheels

Has anyone came up with a solution in keeping the valve extension from rattling on carbon wheels?

Wrap it with electrical tape.

Okay, anyone got a solution for when you discover this problem after you've stuck your tubs on?

I pushed a bit of heatshrink tube over the valve but it's touch and go, didn't quite fit.

Dab or 2 of silicone.

Yeah, that's plan Z.

Poke the valve through the electrical tape and stick to the rim.

Wrap the threads in teflon tape

I found that a Starbucks straw was the perfect diameter. I cut a length and fed it down over the valve until it was good and stuck down around the stem. I used an Exacto knife to then trim off any excess. Worked great and didn't fail before pulling the tires off to glue new ones.

This was years ago, so I can't say if SB uses the same diameter straw any longer.

I think most of them have gone to paper now (if they give you a straw at all.

When you need a quick dirty fix this is it. Works

Basically, pretty electrical tape. But same principle.

That said, a toothpick also works pretty well. Stick the end in there and break it off.

Went for a ride with the electrical tape solution- works wonderfully

wish I knew about this years ago

Incorrect.
These are MUCH thicker than tape AND have glue that will keep them in place even after countless hours riding in the rain.

Buy tubes with threaded valve stems and use the nut.

I’ve definitely had tubes fail right at the valve stem. To the extent this may reduce that problem, it looks like a great idea.

Good idea but they always come loose for me

i refuse to over tighten or use thread locker

I use liquid electrical tape- the solvent is smelly but works pretty well.

I understand you have to defend your product but that pretty much is the same results I get with high quality 3M electrical tape. And, given I live and ride in Minnesota, that includes temperature extremes as well.

there’s benefit in the shape and in protection against cheap adhesives/tape but still - tape works just fine.

I couldn’t find tubes with 90mm valve stem.

If you had cochlear implants you could turn them off.
