Awesome Jacket
Edit: As pointed out by "Oso Polar" this jacket is also on sale at Amazon in different size/color combinations. The prices vary widely from $50.64 to $300, you have to go through each size in every color. The prices also change, so it would be best to monitor it.
https://www.amazon.com/Helly-Hansen...WV6th=1&psc=1 Edit: Two people have actually bought this jacket on this sale and posted their opinions, posts 75 and 76. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...89275d6ef5.png https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...10d3ea2f98.png |

What is your experience with the jacket?
I was was on the lake on top of a levee on a bike path taking a ride, it was 26F, the wind was blowing 15-20 mph, I had on a Tesla Compression Shirt, a light Helly Hansen insulating shirt and this jacket and pant. It was not only bearable it was totally comfortable with no clammy feeling at all. It worked great. At this sale price this jacket is a steal. |
I was also thinking about this from the website.

If the jacket performs as claimed, that is a very good price.

You are right. You have to catch a deep sale and availability in your size even if it means watching season to season. But it is worth it. This is the beginning of their professional line.

Well, I've no idea how good is this jacket but in case someone is interested it is available on Amazon, sold by Amazon itself, for < $70 in some colors and sizes (orange/medium, blue/small). :)

Where is this jacket made? Prices range from $68 to $300 . Sounds a lot like the tennis shoe market.

If a jacket like that is likely to last at least 5 years, it seems like it would be worth it, even at $300. I am always leery of forking a few hundred bucks for something I'm unsure of, but hell, even my $50 Shimano shoes that I bought in 2011 are still perfectly functional. Now that I know they are that good, and last like they do, I'm much more inclined to pay more if needed (but sales are always welcome!).
I would probably get one of these jackets if 1) I still lived in Seattle, and 2) I didn't have a velomobile. |

As for that little ditty of a review on Amazon, click comment below the review and see what I left for this wonderfully observant person. |
It would not surprise me if this jacket is as good as folks say it is. HH has been a pioneer in a lot of areas related to outdoors. I think they essentially invented the “oil skin” waterproof clothing for fishermen a long while ago. I recall as well working for Eastern Mt. Sports when Fibrepile was developed. It was the predecessor to fleece. I still have a Patagonia FibrePile (or their version of it) jacket from the early 70’s.

Looks like a good deal but isn't cycling-specific; I'd worry about the tail being long enough for drop-bar use.

The only thing I can say about Helly Hansen,is they used to have a bullet proof lifetime warranty and it was truly a lifetime warranty. People might have been taking advantage of this and a little while back they changed it to a two year warranty. That is quite a change. But they do fudge on it a little bit. I had a three year old jacket that the zipper broke on and they gave me a full replacement credit, which I used to get the Vanir Slidr on sale from them for $150. |

Not to mention that it has a hood, which would act like a parachute brake while riding.

That might be the case if there was no head on your shoulders, but I’ve never found a hood catches the wind. Maybe if I was racing and had the bar slammed.
Maybe you can talk to him. |

Way to go, you got a hell of a deal. You can thank Oso Polar. Now, I hope I did not over sell the jacket. It's a great jacket though. A little hot for high activity in the summer but can be used in a rain storm and it will get you through any winter condition. I hope it works out. |
