How do you safely remove the black dot on Cinelli 1R stem?

I got a 1R with a rash I want to sand and polish right by the logo inset. Is there a trick to removing it or putting it back and not messing it up or having it loose? It looks like you would use a little punch in the little hole from the inside of the clamp area.

- thanks for any insight

Never owned a IR before, but could there be a hole on the back at the inside of the clamp where you can push it out??
Otherwise you might need a very small, sharp flat screwdriver to carefully lever it out from the front at the edges.

unless there's more than one, mine has two little (fragile) tabs that have to be carefully pried inward while you push the "dot" inward, you don't push it outward as there is a flange that won't permit that.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=195771

Thanks - mine is a little different - no tabs - so there is more than one kind. It didn't want anything to do with carefully prying from the outside. A wire from the inside through that hole popped it right out. It was pretty snug.

well, that's an "improved" version I've never seen before...must have been after the Cinelli engineers all broke the little tabs on their own 1R stems! Thanks for the good pics.
