1974-75 Cinelli Speciale Corsa (serial number 7.39)

Brake levers and calipers are anodized bronze. Shifters, rear derailleur, stem, crankset and seat post have been highlighted in black and red.

The bike has a few marks but has been ridden very little. Rare 1975 Super Record rear derailleur. I have not attempt to polish the anodized brake calipers. Backside of crank arms are milled and painted. Tires hold air well but really should not be ridden. Serial number is 7.39.

The one change I have made from the photos is to switch to a nice Campagnolo Record high-flange hub wheelset. This bike is meant to be displayed and ridden on special occasions - or just ride it and enjoy the magic! :)

Frame measures 55.5cm square center-to-center.

I have corrected the year from 1977 to ‘74-‘75 due to the bike having shifter and bottle bosses, but not braze-on cable guides.

Have to say, I'm glad it's not my size, as this is the era of Cinelli I'd love to take a chance on. Perhaps it would erase my negative feelings regarding the '83 Super Corsa I once owned.

IMHO, the pitting on the bronze brake calipers is pure patina; I wouldn't have attempted to polish it away, either.

Did the late Jon Williams perform the millium work? The workmanship and colors look mighty familiar...

One would hope so; after all, my '83 felt heavy and ponderous when compared to every one of my rides. Honestly, it was a total disappointment :(

Thanks for the comments. I’ve kept a ledger of bikes I’ve restored and sold and I’ve shared it with a number of people. Knowing verified sales can be really helpful, but it’s a small community and not everyone loves to publicize sold prices.

This Cinelli sold for the asking price. At that amount I try to make sure everything is ready to ride, unless the bike is explicitly a project. I’ve had really good luck buying here and on some of the other online venues, but I’ve had to work through some messes. Lots of wrong-sized seatposts, some headsets installed incorrectly, stuff like that. Anyway, I ended up spending maybe 6hrs on this bike after selling it. It wasn’t a rider and I never rode it. The rear hub was dry and so I disassembled and greased it. The freewheel went into the sonic cleanser and was oiled. Spoke tension was checked, two chain links removed, fd cable routed correctly at clamp, and serrated washers moved to the correct side of the brake posts. I’m sure that there were other things too.
