None of his listings show the forks. Probably a silly choice rather than deliberately trying to hide damage (all of them can't be bad).

Still, I'd grab that '53 Dawn he has listed up there if it was a 23". Sadly, everything he has listed is a 21.

Picked up the Sports today, gave it a quick wipe and she’s looking pretty good, looks like the hub says 78 to me. Has the original Raleigh tires on it.

The 78/12 is a pretty safe sign it's probably a '79. Come to think of it, I know these were all two-tone, but I can't recall seeing the late two-tone Coffee variant until now. Looks very nice.

Hmmm...I would assume 1984 with the release of “This Is Spinal Tap.”

However, I don’t recall ever seeing photos of him riding an English three-speed bike, though he has been credited as the inspiration for the 11-speed bike (which is, of course, one better than a ten-speed).

Believe it or not he appears on an episode of American Bandstand (1979) with Lenny and Squiggy from Laverne and Shirley....

Sounds like a challenge for someone daft enough to come up with an AW hub chained to an eight speed cluster. Three plus eight = genius! It goes to eleven!

I understood the reference. Saw the movie once. But why would Nigel settle for 11 on a bike when he could have an honest 24? I know, I know, "But this one goes to 24" just doesn't have the same cachet.

I suspect ‘cause he has a hard enough time with addition...multiplication is WAY out of his (extremely small) wheelhouse! 😉
