Put in another 20 this morning, delivering a free compressor hose I listed on Craigslist to the dude who lives here. He claims to be disabled, but I'm not sure.🤔 Very proud of myself, since my knees rarely tolerate two straight days of riding.

32 miles. First 14.5 was recorded as a walk. I was wondering why Strava kept giving me 1 mile splits!

Troul 10-09-23 06:43 PM

79 miles. Slightly warmer & timed it decent for a hefty tailwind heading back.

A gorgeous day here in rural VA on the Chesapeake Bay -- temps in hi 50's - lo 60's, mostly sunny, occasional gentle breeze.

Faced with the choice between (1) 12 miles (6 out, 6 back), or, (2) sit on the back porch, watch birds on the feeder, have a second slice of apple pie, and second cup of coffee, I chose (2).

It was the right choice.

Insert "Why not both?" meme here.

12.3 miles on a "climby" route today. Short but tough going up. Worth it for the lovely view at the end.

Apple pie mit schlag und kaffee (dont know why I went german) warmed by a fire after a ride sounds nice.

second 32 in a row for me. Froze my ASS off yesterday starting at 4:30 am with high humidity and 57 F. It was supposed to be warmer here today in northeast florida. BUT NO!

55 at the beginning and end. I dressed warmer but was even colder throughout the ride. My face, my fingers, my toes. The only reason I'm doing this is to get my miles for the week in because it's supposed to rain Thursday through Saturday :( and apparently I can barely do cold any more let alone cold AND wet! The only friend I had was the owl when I started. No deer. No possums. Certainly no amphibians or reptiles along the way... they're all smarter than me...

In my 20's I would have complete strangers in Detroit scold me for not wearing a coat in January. Days long gone. Here I am back in Florida incapable of handling the 50's :(

Forecast predicted moiiist & heavy headwinds...
lies!
Got out there & stayed dry with a moderate side wind on the way out yesterday transitioned to tail winds & dropping trmps.
Net 45 miles.
Winds picked back up & it started to drizzle AFTER I got back & brewed the coffee.

I avoided being a sucker for today's ride.

did an even 100 yesterday. kind of a perfect day about 37F at the start and about 47F at the finish. colors were great.

Had 6" of rain on Thursday, so it was an inside day for sure, did 14 and 2K climbing, got in 81.2 today.

SpeedyBlueBiker 10-13-23 09:58 PM

I went out and rode 36 miles today. The weather was nice and it was dry. I rode my "rain" bike today due to my regular bike needing some service (brakes, chain, etc.) type of work done on it. Surprising how two bikes have a very different feel to them.

LOL... well my wife might confirm the un-normal part, but don't ask her, I hate when she tells people the truth about me . While I would agree, the old school wheel on trainers are just horrid and I would rather be water boarded, which I had to suffer through in some training I took back in my military days, 100% do not recommend, :twitchy:, with the smart bike, Rouvy or one of the other zwift-like things and a TV in front of you, it makes it a whole lot better. Not as good as as being outside, but better.

So with that in mind, my mother in law unfortunately can no longer use her 3 wheeler I bought for her 6 years ago, so she sold it to a friend of her in the retirement community she used to live in 90 miles west of me, so I got up early and did 82 as I have to deliver it to them this afternoon. So I watched the Godfather 1 and some of #2. Fantastic movie and arguably the best sequel ever made, which are highly recommend, unlike the water board training. Spoiler if you have not seen it, lots of people do not survive.

XxHaimBondxX 10-14-23 10:14 AM

23 miles, found new muddy path.

44 miles and crashed today near the end injured now can barely type. Probably no more cycling now for a long time.

Bummer, hopefully its not as bad as you think and you will heal quickly. Something it seems worse than it is at first and once the swelling and initial impact soreness reduces you will feel better. I had a bad accident several years ago and had to have multiple surgeries to fix it. The worst part was the initial soft tissue swelling and soreness. The broken and shattered shoulder really did not hurt that much.

Troul 10-15-23 10:06 AM

50 flat miles, up against the wind & dashing thru the muck.
