What is your typical week of riding ?

I'm curious what how much you cycle slutz from hell ride in a given week.
  • Do you do a few short rides and one long ride?
  • 2 long rides? Weekend warrior.
  • Daily 15 min ride? Commuter.
I currently average 3 short rides a week to get lunch or ride to the gym.
My goal for the Fall is to reach one hour ride.

Jedneck 08-26-21 11:04 AM

Six days a week minimum ride is 2x a day 16miles with 7-800ft climbing. Will take detour on way home n do up to 30 in evening. And do the odd metric on Sundays

Milton Keynes 08-26-21 12:37 PM

I try to ride 10 miles every morning M-F and then on some weekends I'll go for longer rides out in the country. This weekend I'm planning on a ~40 mile ride.

Rdmonster69 08-26-21 12:38 PM

I typically ride 2 20-30 mile rides and a 30-40 miler on the weekends. I have upped that to 1 additional 20-30 miler because I got a new bike and a class I was in went down to 1 day a week.

PeteHski 08-26-21 12:53 PM

2 short high intensity rides during the week (typically 1 hour)
2 short low intensity recovery rides during the week (typically <1 hour)
1 long endurance ride at the weekend (typically 4+ hours)
At least 1 full rest day, usually Monday.

Just go out tomorrow and ride for an hour. Box ticked!

30+ miles of solid effort on work days, longer rides on days that I don’t have to work. I don’t commute to work on my bicycle. Between 5-7 days/week, and I consider myself a low/average mileage rider. I guess I ride more than some, less than others.

genejockey 08-26-21 12:59 PM

Three 25 mile rides midweek, 55-65 miles on Sunday.

Troul 08-26-21 01:14 PM

few miles in between The Price Is Right reruns.

Sojodave 08-26-21 01:22 PM

When I'm not training for an event, I ride 3 to 4 times mid-week and a big ride on Saturday. Usually 75 to 120 miles per week. I up the miles when training for an event.

indyfabz 08-26-21 01:26 PM

I don't have a typical week. At least not these days.

Iride01 08-26-21 01:29 PM

at least 5 minutes.

Rolla 08-26-21 01:57 PM

Four or five rides a week, two or three hours each, usually on a singlespeed. Mix of pavement/gravel/trail.

:foo:You need to work on your base fitness if you can't presently ride for one hour. Push ups and squats, sperm tube crunches. Best check with your doctor if you are new to getting off the couch.:thumb:

I am one that does not have a typical mileage week. Most days I just go out and ride until I feel that is for it the day. That figure is usually 15 to 35 miles, anywhere from 3 days to 6 days per week. I do longer rides a couple of times a month. Including this year, I will have just over 40,000 in the last 8 years. Over the course of that time span, that averages around 96 miles per week.

Monday = 5mins
Tuesady = 3mins (recovering from Monday's epic ride)
Wednesday = 4mins (building up endurance)
Thursday = 4mins (still endurance building)
Friday = Take the day off + It's garbage day & I clean the cat box.
Saturday = Wash the bike
Sunday = 3min (Tune up ride)

Ride 6 or 7 days most weeks
10-12 hours
120-180 miles

GhostRider62 08-26-21 03:20 PM

No races or events in the nearterm. I ride 6 days per week. I try to do one VO2 max interval session every 6-8 days. One 2 x 20 interval session. One longish ride. The rest are 20-35 miles with 50-80 feet climbing per mile at Z2 ish

With that amount of riding, on your Saturday wash day, be sure to check the condition if your cassette, chain and chainwheels. Check your tires for wear as well. You may want to check your brake pads as well, oh, and if you have rim brakes, check your rims at least every other week to be sure the brake tracks are not too thin.

Prior to the pandemic, most of my daily riding was done on my commute.
Nowadays, I do two ten to twenty mile rides pretty much daily.

bargo68 08-26-21 03:50 PM

Since spring of 2020:
2 x 24 mi. a day, Mon-Thurs.
Usually a 30-50 weekend ride.
About 190-230 a week.

This winter will probably see less commuting miles.

Though I'm not proud of the numbers.

I get them in when I can, not set schedule, generally 100 to 125 a week.

WaveyGravey 08-26-21 04:01 PM

Minimum of 100 miles per week. Typically much more. Average ride is about 25 miles a day.

tempocyclist 08-26-21 04:02 PM

I work in metric. This year I'm averaging around 240km / week (around 150 miles / week).

I ride when I can. Some weeks that's three days, others it's six days. Whatever. Other days I simply pull wheelies up and down my driveway for fun.

You better be careful you don't burn yourself out. I suggest switching your 4 minute Wednesday endurance ride for a shorter 2 minute recovery ride.
