Take a look at the BMC TR01 - despite the geometry of the large frame it fits a 6'-5" top level rider.

Depends on the proportions of the rider.

I've seen Giddeon Massie (6'3") ride a Medium LOOK 496 which has a 56cm TT. Massie seems to be "all legs", so that kinda works. If brawlo is evenly proportioned or has a longer torso, then he may need a really long TT.

Sad. I was supposed to be in that event. I went to elites that year to do TS and got shafted once I got there.

Really depends on the rider and their riding style. The BMC isn't too far different from my road bike in terms of frame reach. That is a good starting point for new riders and mass start riders. For sprint purposes however, the BMC is very small/short.

We wanted my new frame to have 485mm reach! Combine that with a saddle setback of 115mm and you can see that it is LONG! Long arms and a proportionate torso. The fitter just happened to have a bike built there waiting for a guy 6'6" to do the final setup on. So he fit me on that bike. I needed a 170mm stem on that bike and the seatpost was way higher too! It all depends on proportion

Eh. I'd rather the past be in the past. I was pissed for a while. No sense in stirring it up again now 5+ years later.

Wow. I've been wondering if Team GB's lack of success since the last Olympics was part of a long game that they were playing. Basically, "Olympic medals are the only ones that count." and training through everything.

Maybe the program has fallen from being divine and has now become a normal program (now with added drama!).

They've been falling apart in the run-up to these Olympics. The WCs were full of acrimonious back and forth between staff and riders via the media, and there have been a bunch of strange decisions. It's disappointing but not particularly surprising that in a program that prides itself on being able to find and develop riders - ie the assets are the staff, program, and knowledge, and the riders are just input resources - that it would develop this mindset of riders being somewhat expendable.

Now that track cycling has become popular in the UK there is probably a lot of pressure to continue its international success from the media and from money sources (lottery?).

I'm all about bike innovation, but that cord could make a mess if during a wreck.

I was at the Olympic trials in Colorado Springs in 1984 when O'Reilly ran a 1:03 on that bike (obviously with no aero skis and therefore in a fairly non-aero position as you can see in the video). He apparently designed it himself, and also designed his own training program, which was unlike what anyone was doing then but much like most people are doing now. He said he had a 1-rep max in the squat of 500lbs (at 180lbs BW) when most people weren't doing any lifting and those who were did mainly high-rep lifting, and did little or no road riding/racing when most people were, even sprinters (such as Leusenkamp, the shirtless guy in this video). If I recall correctly, 2nd place at the trials went to Harvey Nitz, who I doubt lifted weights and was doing most of his riding on the road. If memory serves, he rode a standard track bike that night. O'Reilly was a real outlier.

Looks pretty cool! Price is right too. Can be hard to get your hands low enough with bullhorns and I've been using a LOOK stem that cost WAY more for years.
